Can I ask why many people don't share their work outside of this thread?

Is it because they don't want feedback, or for the work to be seen by a wider audience?

Genuinely interested. Thanks.

Because we are allways out, taking pictures. ;)

i think its because some wanted (and i agree) some photos and examples of the m8 in the m8

forum.

with the forum split m8/m9 and photos its time consuming to jump all over.

i also believe more people look here than in photo.

everyone went crazy over the m9 that i think some of us who are still shooting

with the m8 want to point it out.

i believe its also helpful for all of those who are now buying m8s 2nd hand, and would like to

see what it can do.

thats very difficult if you have to comb through the photo forums.

best,melissa

I think that it's very sad that people aren't prepared to look outside of the M8 sub-forum. There is a whole world of really interesting Leica stuff going on outside, and some terrific photography in the Photo sections.

Andy, I prefer to show things to people who, like me are trying to squeeze the most out of an intractable medium. I learn a lot here.

The wider audience seems to enjoy kittens in hats, reflection on water and purple skies.

All shot with M8.2 and 24, 28mm. Some tone-mapped, some stitched.

These are truly astounding, much like some works by Escher. Thanks for showing them here. Had you shown them in the M8 forum, I wouldn't have seen them. I do not own an M8 and have little incentive in looking there.

Thanks Andy and Philipp. Making it 'other', here's an a 3-stitch 50mm Summicron on the M9. Which is like using a 50mm wide angle on a piece of 36x52 film - almost MF. See my L bracket post on the M9 forum.

I post regularly on the photo forums and would encourage others to do the same. However, I started this thread in part because I saw the need to celebrate the relevance of the M8 (M8.2) in the world today. I'm not big on consumerism and the notion that something is obsolete and of little value just because something new has been introduced into the market is ludicrous to me, it is consumerism in its worse form. Companies would like consumers to believe their cherished goods are no longer any good because something new was introduced, but why should we get sucked into that artificial fallacy???

The M8 (M8.2) remains as viable as ever, and represents a golden opportunity for those unwilling or unable to spend seven thousand U.S. on a new camera, and want to explore digital M photography. The M8 made history when it was first introduced and it has not lost its punch one iota.

Cheers!

Isn't it great that you can see what this camera can do in capable hands? I too enjoyed these M8 shots very much!

Two reasons:

One - I've signed every one of my more than 600 posts on this forum with a link to my own website. So, anyone who is really interested in what I do can have a look any time. Since I registered on this forum in 2006, about 3 or 4 people have taken the trouble to give me some feedback - that's an average of once a year.

Two - Almost anything that's posted in the photo forums seems to get abundant praise. The few images that don't usually get ridiculed. (Compare Nicole's thought on decorum...) I can't see how my photography could improve either way.

Manfred,

It is also my experience that there may be excessive praise of work in the photo forums but I consider it a form of encouragement. It is also my experience that if you want honest feedback, you can request it, and you will get it. A lack of comments is also a form of feedback, in a situation like that I would encourage you to request honest feedback.

Here's a shot of a bumper sticker taken with my M8. It was two colors, a white background with blue letters, after some PS magic, I got this :-)

Try using yourself as a Zoom, move in and out, I'm sure you can do it. You can also play with cropping your images, play with this one and see what happens?

Good to see this post still going strong it is a representation of what a forum is about.
