You can‘t repeat what Lars wrote too often! So thank you very much for the links. May I ask a moderator to post the link at an appropriate place where it can be found easily? Advertisement Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 Hi UliWer, Take a look here M10 Monochrom - would you always use a yellow filter for better tonality or not?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

Lars made hundreds of postings about use of filters here - though unfortunately he is not with us any more. I remember he published an excellent summary of his experience - well written as always, [...] Brilliant summary. Thanks for mentioning it. One more thing about the yellow filter besides increasing contrast outdoors when the lighting is such that shadows are cast and filtering down one of the hues of two adjacent colors in order not to print the same gray tone is that it reduces mid-tones. Jeff S Posted February 5, 2020 Share #43 Posted February 5, 2020 (edited) Ah, Lars, my favorite forum contributor (along with Nicole, also sadly gone). Lars’ small arms knowledge also crossed over to photography, with this strap technique that I’ve found useful... And, as regards this thread topic, his sage advice was “The first rule of using colored filters is: don’t unless there is a clearly statable reason to do so.” Miss that guy.
