Georgetown Lunch along the Canal -- Ladies Day at the Chef's Garden  -- Leica 246, 35 mm, f11, no filter. Street shot. Thanks for looking -- CHIPS

Great image Chips, lovely Leica tones and such a relaxed setting. They dent even know you were there or if they did, they didn't care.

Thoroughly enjoyed the tone and mood you created with this lens. I think this may be what I have been looking for. Do you mind sharing a photo of your lens because I am a little confused between v4 and v5. Is this the latest version that has the safari edition or the one that has 50 jahre special edition, or even older version? Thanks!

The one at the far end doesn't look especially thrilled.

Thanks for your comments -- I had pre-focused and set the exposure so it was a very quick photo. I did not disturb them or ask for permission. After the photo no one seemed to be aware. Jeff may be right that the person closest sensed my proximity but I just kept on moving. Thanks again. CHIPS

This photo has a spiritual dimension. The glowing luminance of the objects is very striking -=- CHIPS How did you get the blacks soooo black and the lighter tones too glow?

Thanks Ken. I am a fan of your work! I just walked over  prepared by pre-focusing and getting the exposure right before my approach. The composition just spoke to me and I quietly made the photo and moved away. They just continued undisturbed -- at the far end one of the woman looked at me but kept eating.

Contrast. Only contrast and a bit of burning.

Great, just contrast and a bit of burning in post -- very well done Leica and the photographer scores another fine photograph!

It reminded me of Duchamp’s unhappy bachelors.

Thank you! These were taken with the current one you can buy new (also available as Safari – sold out but can be found used). https://leicastoremiami.com/collections/leica-m-system-m-system-lenses/products/leica-summicron-m-50mm-f-2-0?variant=342827721 Compared to my 50 Lux (now sold) or the the CV 50 APO (kept), its lower contrast and more subdued color helps tame the high contrast of the M10M and makes it less likely I will blow the highlights.

I've sold mine and plan to buy a Safari version so that it matches my 28 Cron Safari. Several eBay sellers have nearly-new 50 Safari-Ms for around $3K, which is not much more than they were new.

Much appreciated. I hope to achieve the similar effect on my M10M images with this lens. Often times, subdued effect comes with other artifacts, often associated with older lenses, that I reserve for special situations. And an extreme lens such as 50APO often feels harsh to my taste, retrospectively. A “normal” 50 Summicron may very well be a perfect solution to my needs at the moment. Look forward to getting my hands on it soon.

I know it is just ads, but I somehow did not bring myself to delete it.
