wilfredo Posted January 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 12, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone purchased photography equipment from Abes of Maine in Linden, New Jersey, if so, do you recommend them? They seem to have great prices on products. I've never used them.
Advertisement Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Hi wilfredo, Take a look here Abes of Maine. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Dan Bachmann Posted January 12, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 12, 2020 When I lived in New Jersey I used them. As I remember, I drove to their shop at once to make some purchases of new Pentax kit and there was an issue of getting the price advertised. The cheaper prices were grey market and only sold via mail order. I'm not sure what I did at that point, but I know that I had ordered grey market goods from them without any problem. The only difference was that should I need to return something to the manufacturer during the warranty, I would have to send it to Europe or Japan. Also, living in New Jersey or going to the shop, I had to add in state tax up front which was not considered in the price listings. That was 25 years ago, so things may be different now, but at least you know they've been around for awhile.
wilfredo Posted January 13, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted January 13, 2020 Thanks, that’s helpful. I remember B&H doing the Grey market thing, not sure if they still do that? They sold things with what they called a Mack Warranty. I was never keen on the grey market thing
jdlaing Posted January 15, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 15, 2020 I suggest you steer clear of Abe’s of Maine. They don’t honor their word.
Herr Barnack Posted January 15, 2020 Share #5 Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) Not everyone named Abe is an Honest Abe. You gotta be careful out there. As for honesty, integrity, customer service and honorable business practices - B&H Photo reigns supreme.
