Andy, obviously you have very nicely composed the picture with the rocks moving forward as frozen waves and the house fixing the gaze at the horizon. I have 21 SEM and also 35 FLE but I always enjoy my  Elmarit 24's proportions and rendering between the close and the far elements of the picture. An 18  or 21 would have made the far elements less present in the picture.

Thanks. I love this lens.

I have been tempted to go a little wider too, so might see if I can find an 18mm later next year.

I love this Elmarit 24 too (and cannot understand its price going down and down the last 10 years). And I had the 18mm too, but that didn’t work for me.

I’d like to thank the 38 members for their Thanks or Likes  plus those who have directly responded, for their support for this shot.

It sums up my Christmas holiday this year, my wife and my first Christmas in 35 years where she hasn’t been at work as a nurse, and therefore our first ever Christmas away from home.

It’s also, in my opinion, one of my best shots, in roughly 50 years of taking photographs. I’ve been looking for this shot since we first started to come to Scotland for holidays 20 years ago and here it is.

The framed and mounted print for the wall will be here in a few days, courtesy of Whitewall in Germany. Can’t wait to put it up.

Excited for you, Andy.  what paper did you choose and why?

I have ordered the standard Fuji Crystal Archive paper behind standard glass.

I have had the anti reflective glass before and that’s not so good.

The quality of the product from Whitewall is excellent and, apart from some original watercolours, all of the wall art in our home is my photographs through them.

I'm sure the printed version will look great and will be an eye catcher for it brings a sense of harmony and peace. But in the context of your experiences it has a sentimental value too and when photography collides in this way with memories the craft is so much more rewarding.
