4art Posted December 28, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 28, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings. Soon to be SL 601 owner. New to Leica. Fan of high IQ and quality build. Already own some premium Zeiss lenses: 15 ZF2, 25 f2 ZF2, 100 f2 ZF2 Makro & 85 Otus. Wanting the full Leica look I would like recommendations. Is the Leica look viable with digital given what you can do in post? I’ve dug pretty deep into R lenses and seems the 50 Summicron v2 made in Germany is a great lens and relatively cheap. Can’t afford the e60 Summilux. Not sure of M lenses. So many versions and huge price ranges. Any thoughts on M versions? I’m also ok with lenses with character in any focal length. Best! Eric Leica 40 mm Summicron-C f2 and Pentax Super-Takomar 50 mm f1.4 are two - out of many - cheaper options. An example from the latter below:
Leicaiste Posted December 28, 2019 Share #4 Posted December 28, 2019 The Summicron R 50 V2 is an excellent choice. Keep in mind the price of an adapter. The Leica R Adapter-L will be more expensive than that lens. The Novoflex is much cheaper.
BernardC Posted December 28, 2019 Share #5 Posted December 28, 2019 There is a lot of disagreement as to what constitutes the "Leica look," but if any lens is a contender, it's the Summicron 50. The 50Rv2 and the post-1979 M are essentially the same optically, and there are plenty available on the secondary market (the M is available new as well). michali Posted December 28, 2019 Share #7 Posted December 28, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Welcome to the Forum. I agree with Helge in post #3 I also have both these lenses which I've used on the SL. The Pentax Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 in particular produces wonderful images on the SL. They cost anything from about $100- to $200-.
