I usually upgrade Apple's new Operating Systems immediately after they are available.  I did not do so with macOS Catalina.  After monitoring the macOS Catalina subforum on MacRumors, I decided it was time to upgrade to macOS 10.15.2.  The installation went normally.  I tried all the software that I use.  The only app that did not work was the Canon Print Studio plug-in for Lightroom / Photoshop.  When trying to print, the plug-in just terminated with a strange error message.  The issue is not with Canon or with Adobe software.  It is a new security feature of Catalina.  To make this plug-in work, you have to go to the Apple icon and System Preferences / Security & Privacy / Privacy and unlock, select Full Disk Access on the left list and check Print Studio Pro in the right window.  The Canon app then works.

In addition to Lightroom Classic 9.1, Bridge 2020, ACR 12.1, and Photoshop 2020, Capture One 20 also works fine in Catalina.

I lease my computer, so every two years a new one shows up.  I got tired of updating hardware and fighting with Windows on PC Workstations to keep them up to date.  I just hope Apple does not turn mac OS into another Windows.  macOS Catalina 10.15.0 was not ready for release.

unfortunately with 10.15.2 I still have problems in many details: Re LR its still difficult to import RAWs from storage card. LR gets stuck and I have to restart the action.

Besides LR problems sometimes Mail.app crashes for no evident reason. If .3 does not resolve these problems I will have to do a new setup of my Mac.

  • 2 weeks later...

Some clients went back to Mojave 10.14.6 because of issues with Adobe CC run in 10.15.
On my in October purchased MacMini i run 10.14.6 either.
No problems…
I  wait at least half a year with an OS update.
When updatin the OS i make a CCC Backup before.
So it is easy to play the last runnig config back if the update makes trouble.
I do not want to be chrashtest-dummy for Adobe or Apple. 😉
