oudjunk Posted December 20, 2019 Share #1  Posted December 20, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I saw these lenses are selling as the second hand on the internet. the price is almost the same. I have used the 75 and 90 focal length before and i loved it both. I want to buy only one lens for portrait. which one do you prefer? ps. cameras are Leica M10 and M6 TTL.

jaeger Posted December 20, 2019 Share #3  Posted December 20, 2019 (edited) Both lenses have very thin DOF wide open but you can ignore my post if you often shoot f/4 or higher. I'd say if they are calibrated correctly, they are both lovely lenses. The compression has minute difference for only 15mm, the frame size is only 2 step away. A used Leica lens might have been calibrated with a badly adjusted M before, when it happened you need to send the lens for calibration. The upside is Leica lenses are usually sharper (if correctly adjusted). VM 75 is faster but may still need calibration (usually ok) too, but who knew. It seems like only the dude in Los Angeles does services but he only services lenses that bought from him. I'm not sure where are you from, but Voighlander is really suck at managing their distributors or after sales service in the US. I have love in summilux, I shoot a lot at low light and/or wide open so RF accuracy has been bothering me for over 2 years. Using third party lenses is another struggle, they both blame each-other for quality issue. I think everything starts with Leica, often time their RF is not unified. You really need to find a way to proof your RF is setup correctly first before you can deal with used or 3rd party lenses. Good luck! I've never had any issue with third party lenses. I'd get the 75mm over the 90, epecially if you want to use it for portrait. The new Voigtlander has a lovely glow and a pleasing bokeh wide open.
