Stevenson Posted December 18, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had no trouble updating firmware on the Sigma 45/2.8 (from FW1.0 to 1.1) on my SL (FW3.6). But with my Panasonic 70-200/4 I get the message 'no firmware on SD card found'. Has anyone else managed - if so how? Or are others continuing with FW1.0? FW1.1 is supposed to improve OIS. OK, answering my own question :-). Downloaded .plf file from Sigma's site, Camera Information -> Lens Firmware Versions -> Start Update. Copied update file from sigma web site onto SD card root directory using PC windows 10. Inserted SD into slot 1. used menu item on SL menus to update lenses. It recognized Sigma file gave me option to update 1 to 1.1. Said yes update took about 1 minute. Same process for Leica file for 3.6 to 3.7. My problem was that, when I followed the same procedure with a Panasonic 70-200/4, I got the 'no firmware on SD card found' message. But I eventually found that, whereas the SL (3.6) accepted the entire Sigma firmware file, it was necessary to extract the firmware component from the Panasonic file, discarding the rest, and to ensure that this firmware element alone was on the SD card. Then it worked. So the Sigma upgrade was, for me, much more straightforward. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Stevenson Posted May 21, 2020 Author Share #16 Posted May 21, 2020 With my SL I had the same problem with the Panasonic 70-200 f4, whereas updating my Sigma 45/2.8 had been straightforward. But, through trial and error, I discovered that there was a need to separate the actual update subfile from the Panasonic file downloaded. Only this should be on the SD card - then it works. As far as I can tell there's no firmware update available for the 70-200 2.8. The one on the Panasonic page is for the 70-200 F4: https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/index4.html . This might explain why it's not working for you. When I updated the 70-200 F4 and the 24-105 on my SL2 body I was following the instructions given on that page for Panasonic bodies and it worked without issues. Dagmar Escalona Posted May 22, 2020 Share #20 Posted May 22, 2020 Today I tried the teleconverter again in the 70-200mm f2.8 and everything worked well with my leica sl2, without updating the firmware of the lens to version 1.1, there is nothing to do, it is ready to go, I do not know if 100% percent because I have not been able to test it outside, but in the tests inside my house I work very well with good sharpness, I do not know if yesterday I did not give the camera enough time to interact with the lens and the teleconverter, but as panasonic says the 70-200mm f4 lens needs to be updated to version 1.1 for it to work with teleconverters I thought the 2.8 was the same; well I just wanted to update the post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
