I don’t know if you want to defend the troubles with wifi and the Foto’s app and its predecessor but I think it’s a shame for Leica, how ever it occurred or is caused. This counts also for the M10 and especially the M10D, which would suit a smooth connection to a smartphone for that price.

Oh no, I do not want to defend the Foto app. I find it ... ahem ... not so good. It is a pity that it is not at the level of Panasonic's or Nikon's apps.
My point is that since there is no cooperation, Leica cannot just ask Panasonic to help them. That is something that Leica has to sort it out themselves. Hopefully sooner than later.

Exactly, that’s why they are not yet perfectly interesting for paparazzi, sports- and wildlife photographers

Are those types of photographers interested in anything other than Canon and Nikon? I would be surprised if Leica spent any resources catering to those markets. Even Sony can't break-in.

I am surprised that you included "paparazzi" with sports and wildlife. I would imagine that paparazzi want cameras that are cheap and easy to replace, preferably APS-C for those telephoto shots of stars holidaying. I can't think of any Leica qualities that fit the paparazzi business model.

Leica has with the SL2 taken a direction which is more than ever heading to AUTO everything and farther away than ever from the philosophy of the photographer being in control with a few simple parameters manually guided. If you want to do that, it’s a bit ridiculous that you can’t deliver basic things like wifi and GPS in a userfriendly way. Paparazzi or not

Ironic that Leica want to turn themselves into a software company.

Indeed! I you want to be a software company, maybe you should develop some competencies in the area of, you know, software? I was a software product manager for many years, and I am unimpressed by their skills in this area, starting with promotion, packaging, and pricing. They could use some professional advice from people who understand this area.

I don’t really understand the “we can’t work closely for antitrust reasons” line of argument. It’s not as if the combination of the L=mount partners accounts for a significant enough chunk of the market to be able to set prices.

I have the latest version of fotos, a freshly formatted and only a single SD card in the SL2 but it still won't connect.  The app works fine my CL.

The app even says it has found the camera but then I fails.

I can't believe they can't fix this.

I have no issues connecting to app and importing. Transferring the large files wireless is just slow...you need patience.

Did you try deleting the connection and starting over?

Is anyone having any success using the SL2 with Fotos 2.0 (I am trying out the Pro version)?  I can get the camera to connect to the app on my iPad Pro 12.9 using the latest IOS quickly and easily, and can use the app remote to take photos on the SL2, but it just says “No Photos” in the app so I can’t see or download any of the photos from my camera.  Very frustrating.  I sent an email using the customer service feature in the app - I will see if I hear back, but I haven’t been able to find anything online to help.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi, Peter,

did you resolve this problem? Have the same issue with my Leica D-Lux 7.
