pmendelson Posted November 29, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 29, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe I am missing something basic here. When I try to focus recompose by half-pressing on the shutter button (and always keeping it half-pressed) and moving the camera to recompose, the AF refocuses automatically so what I originally focused on is no longer in focus. For example, I focus on the leaf in the foreground, recompose while holding the shutter button half-pressed, and the camera refocuses on the trees in the background. Is there a way to focus / recompose in AF mode without this happening? Otherwise loving the SL2!
Advertisement Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Hi pmendelson, Take a look here SL2 AF Focus Recompose Question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
digitalfx Posted November 29, 2019 Share #2 Posted November 29, 2019 Works for me. Check your settings, are you using AFs or AFc? AFc is “continuous”...it’s not designed to do what you want
acapella Posted November 29, 2019 Share #3 Posted November 29, 2019 Not knowing if this is the right thing to do but I use AF in tracking mode. While recomposing the original focus point (in fact area) stays in place. Interested if there are other methods Regards
pmendelson Posted November 29, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted November 29, 2019 Mystery solved - I was using iAF (intelligent AF) and when I switched to AF-S it solved the issue. Thanks.
