My favorite lens is also the 35mm, that doesn't mean its the best.  But this is exactly why he was hesitant to respond, because people make it more than it is. Enjoy the interview, but don't twist his words. No, he not only says it’s the best (from 16:45 on), but explains the reason, i.e., there was more room to work inside the common barrel size, since a 35 requires the least space.  He then repeats... best performance. BTW, this reinforces my earlier point that lens designers can excel when size constraints are lifted.  That’s partly what makes compact, fast M lenses such achievements. digitalfx Posted November 11, 2019 Share #42  Posted November 11, 2019 I’ll have to listen again, I thought he said he didn’t want to pick a best. But it sounds like I’m wrong.
digitalfx Posted November 11, 2019 Share #43  Posted November 11, 2019 Wow, just listened again, best lens they’ve ever produced. I completely missed that. I’ll say it looks great on my CL, can’t wait to try it on the SL2.
