Interesting subjects you have T. Seemingly an unlimited supply of them at Coney Island. Although this one a bit softer than others, it's great although I want to darken the eyes and increase that insufferable Nosferatu feel. 😃

New to the Sl2 so here are few of the first photos, just getting the hang of the camera and 35mm asph (non APO) and playing with editing raw files.

Hey Ken! Actually, this was taken in Soho. And you know, it’s New York City so it’s a place where you’re gonna continuously see some of the most interesting looking people in the world. The hard part is working up the bottle to approach them, make a connection and then create something good together.

I intentionally shot this soft, using the 50 Lux wide-open and set for the closest focus distance. I just rocked back-and-forth to get it kind of in the ballpark using the EVF, which is why I really love the SL. I have been shooting a lot with the 75 SL APO and that thing is so ridiculously sharp, I kind of wanted to go the other way in this latest series of pictures.

By the way, this kid was really sweet and enthusiastic and had just come out of a job interview. Which I think says everything about the vibe in Soho NYC!

Too much T. NYC and all that Street. Love your work and including this "softer" one which I was surprised to see at first. I tend to have multiple themes photographically and each has  workflow so what's not to love about that. What's not to like about your portraits especially those with deep blacks and alive reds. Such strength in your images and I am sure respective subjects would be more than happy to receive a copy, if you do that?

Best

I still don't have anything to compare it but sharpness of Sl35mm ASPH is quite good. I would not run to the store for this lens, but as a kit lens to sl2/sl2s it works.

I need to do some video work, based on reviews it should be good in that department as well.

This is at f5.6

Testing of IBIS; 35mm Wide open and 0,4s handheld, overhead light in cellar. IBIS makes this usable for web work but i would usualy prefer tripod for very limited light like this or push the iso. ISO 100, grain added in post/C1.

I need to push ISO next time to see what would be acceptable for me…

Thx Ken for your kind words and yeah, I always offer that - I end up seeing many of these people again and again on the streets of New York and out in Brooklyn. I usually send them images within 24 hours of taking the photographs, and it’s a lot of fun seeing these young people posting them on their social media, and in some cases using them as their profile pictures. It’s very rewarding and keeps me young…ish!
