How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Fil

Track maintenance workers fixing the line up the Swan Vally. I shot this from the train window while on a day trip to the country. I posted the image to a local Railway Observation page and several of the workers on that site chimed in with comments and likes. A great way to connect with different communities as long as the images are not "incriminating" and potentially get workers into trouble. The welding process is a thermite process which can be very dramatic, shooting sparks and flames as did this one just prior to this shot. The train was stopped further back at the time so it was just out of frame.

Industrial heritage (I) - VE 24-90mm

The Henrichshütte Iron and Steelworks was set up in 1854 and is perhaps the most famous steelworks in the "Ruhrgebiet", the heart of the coal and steel industry in Germany. Ore and coal were once mined here, coke, iron and steel produced, cast, rolled, forged and processed – all under a single roof. Over 10,000 were once employed here. The blast furnaces were finally blown out in 1987 and today the remainders are an open air museum - with plenty of opportunities for photographers...tbc

Morning Sky 06:48 today. There appears to be a false horizon with a dark section of clouds masking off the true horizon (background). Passengers in the plane above would have been treated to a glorious sunrise from that altitude. VE 90-280
