I havn’t read anything about IBIS in the official notice.

If you read my post #98 you will see:

"If you translate the Japanese text above it says (among others)"

In addition to major technical improvements and a new in-body image stabilization mechanism, the body size remains the same as the “Leica SL”,

"

And:

"

As one of the major evolutions of “Leica SL2”, a new function to correct camera shake at high speed and efficiently by moving the image sensor in the direction to cancel the camera shake in response to camera shake is newly installed. The camera shake compensation mechanism in the body makes it possible to shoot with reduced camera shake even without a camera shake compensation mechanism such as a single focus lens or M system lens of the SL system.

""

This is the official japanese notice.

I do not quite agree. Look at the Vlux, it does not share the common Leica flash protocol, rather it uses Pana/Olympus M4third common flash protocol. Leica should adopt either a high volume camera maker flash protocol such as Nikon, or standardised one based on L mount alliance ie Panasonic & Leica & Sigma.

V-Lux & D-Lux cameras are fake Leica / real Panasonic. So they did not count.

However I also think that Leica should unified its flash system with Panasonic and Olympus.
m4/3 were more than just lens mount sharing. L-mount should follow this for a real system between all L-mount of Lumix, Sigma and Leica.

Your math is wrong. SL2 is 12g lighter... 835g is with the battery !

I'm not sure why you quoted me twice  but my math is correct, and if it's 835g with the battery then the spec sheet is wrong.

Going off the spec sheets, the original SL is 847g with the battery and the SL2 is 911g with the battery.

I did handle the SL2 and Leica told us that it is 12g lighter than SL with the battery of course.
Just a bad Japanese translation.

It is lighter due to magnesium use. It helps overcome the IBIS weight mechanisms

I see, so how did you like it? Are you still going to pass on the SL2?

I really like it. Handling is way better than SL. But losing the four buttons makes it less professional than the original.

But in the end I prefer the CL small size. SL2 is still big and heavy. So still not for me. IBIS is not that useful with Leica software implementation. Auto ISO will favour fast shutter speed, avoiding IBIS use...

Actually I prefer SL UI but SL2 handling. Nothing is perfect. But I think that Leica spoiled the SL2 by using 3 buttons interface.

Which kan be solved by having a menu selection of "Leica flash vs Nikonflash". For the M one can live with the Leica flash system, but for S/SL I think it's really stupid not supporting third party solutions.

+1. I absolutely think Leica is stubborn  when it comes to flash protocol.

Auto ISO is what happens to other people. 😉

It’s a firmware thing.  Could be changed later.

This is Nokishita rapidly typed up by LeicaRumors.  Errors may be present.  Inconsistencies certainly show (8-shot high resolution but no IBIS???).

I'll hold my breath just a bit longer...

its says "As one of the major evolution of the “Leica SL2,” a new function is provided that corrects camera shake at high speed and efficiently by moving the image sensor in the direction to cancel the camera shake."

Having been spoilt with up to 6.5 stops stabilisation on the S1R the relative silence on the IBIS capabilities of the SL2 is a bit concerning and depressing.

There is no silence. It was confirm so long ago. Performance should be ok.
during presentation we were able to shoot handheld at 280mm at 1/8th sec without problem.

@frame-it just like Q2, SL2 will favour fast shutter speed. Avoiding most of the time stabilisation. This is a good thing.
If you need IBIS you have to trigger it by slowing down shutter speed.

SL2 did not have dual IS system. It will rather choose between optical or sensor stabilisation. Upon situation, they best solution will be automatically chosen.

Please take in consideration that I was using a prototype. The quick menu had only 10 selectable items. Now it has 12. It means that so many things are being refined right now by the Munich studio.

My other complaint were that menus only show 6 items with giant fonts instead of former 8 with normal size font. Inducing unnecessary scroll. I hope that they change it also.

seriously? no simple on/off/on-while shooting setting?

There is no hard switch. Stabilisation is menu or function button dependant.

But once again I used a prototype 3 weeks ago
