I recently confirmed my Summicron 90 has backfocus problem. Since my M9 used a few years ago, I adjust the focusing cam on the camera to overcome the backfocus as I thought that there should not be the lense problem. However, the problem still exist after I changed to a M10 and later the current M10-P, both are brand new, I can’t excuse the problem is come from the lense. Although I am currently using the EVF to overcome, I would like to adjust the lense myself to make it accurate when using RF focusing. Does anybody can show me how to adjust. Thanks in advance.

Lenses are not easy to adjust. You need a set of shims made by Leica and some tools nor readily available from Amazon or the hardware store.

if I were in your shoes, I wood send the lens either to Leica or to a reputed specialist who will adjust your lens properly.

Bought a like-new in the box, pre-ASPH, Canadian-made 90mm f2 Summicron from the mid-80’s 3 years or so ago, sent it to Leica and had it 6 bit coded, and it has focused perfectly on 3 digital M bodies ever since.

It’s worth the cost having some things done by those who know what they’re doing.

My 90/2 v3 did misfocus on digital as well but not my v2 for some reason. V3 was calibrated by Leica while doing 6-bit coding and the lens is spot on since then. Those lenses are close to the limits of the RF accuracy at full aperture so i would not try to adjust them myself in any way.

How much did you pay for the calibration? And how long did they return the lense to you? Thanks
