Advertisement Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Hi m9photo, Take a look here Buying from Hong Kong vendor. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Einst_Stein Posted October 29, 2019 Share #2 Posted October 29, 2019 (edited) I have bought my SL camera and lens as well as CL camera from Fourpo in Hong Kong. The price is much cheaper than B&H, even after B&H's special discount that I get (up to 15%). But the CL/TL lenses are higher than B&H. Check the web site "price.com.hk" then search the item models you want. There are several equivalent good deal from may vendors. For example, today's price, SL + 24-90mm kit lens is ~ HKD 55500. SL body only is HKD 30800. CL body is HKD 15000. Cl + 18-56mm kit lens is HKD 25000, But CL 11-23mm lens is HKD 15800 and 18-56mm is HKD 9680. Carrying cameras or lenses from Hong Kong into US was duty free. The mail order has a little trouble since Fourpo (and most good deal dealers you can find) does not do shipping to US. You'll have to ask a friend there to buy and pack and ship to you. The shipping cost is far lower than then saving you get. The US custom will charge you some processing fee through a notice to you. It's not really a tax, and normally below $50 for the SL stuffs. You will get the international buyer protection. As far as I am aware, there is no difference compared to B&H. mercan Posted October 29, 2019 Share #3 Posted October 29, 2019 I have the same concerns. On eBay, the price of Leica 90-280 lens is almost $1000 cheaper than B&H price. Is it safe to buy the items from these vendors with “eBay money back guarantee policy”?
SiggiGun Posted October 29, 2019 Share #4 Posted October 29, 2019 The price difference is VAT! So, if you buy in Hong Kong, "normally" you should pay your local VAT. P. Ex.. 20% in France or 19% in Germany... Up to you to know... The risk you will take
m9photo Posted October 29, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted October 29, 2019 I've been lurking on Ebay as well, and their prices are inded far lower. Also Ebay has that 100% money back guarantee. On top of that I normally use my AMEX for high value online purchase as their fraud proctection is the best.
andyturk Posted October 29, 2019 Share #6 Posted October 29, 2019 I purchased a nice lens from M&K Kamera in Hong Kong this year. It shipped very quickly (to the USA) and no additional tax had to be paid when I picked it up. I did notice that the import paperwork wasn't entirely "correct" though. Wanda lyons Posted May 24, 2024 Share #7 Posted May 24, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I purchased 3 cameras and a long lens from Hallensole, back on April 15 2024. Is this a legit company, or did I get scammed out of my money. I have not text my products, nor have I heard anything from them? Could someone reach out to me, and let me know how to get in touch with Hallensole, or how to get my money back? It looks like I got scammed!!. Thank You. jaapv Posted May 24, 2024 Share #8 Posted May 24, 2024 https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/hallensole.com A site like this is a first port of call when buying from such a site (which now only sells backpacks as far as I can see). It does not even have a Trustpilot entry. Red flags!
rcusick Posted May 25, 2024 Share #9 Posted May 25, 2024 I generally purchase from all good friends camera. Great service and turnaround time. Paying import taxes is your responsibility - ie honor system.
Winedemonium Posted May 31, 2024 Share #10 Posted May 31, 2024 Hong Kong - I can recommend, from more than 10 years experience, Fotopia (especially vintage), and Rangefinder HK (especially new items).
