Leica is aware of Q2 underwhelming face detect. And it should be fixed in next firmware.
until now it was totally unreliable and under performed against SL, Q and CL.

47MP proved to be a challenge for face detect algorithms.

Q is so bad with face detect too. I shoot portrait with manual all the times.

May I quote what you wrote in August of this year?

"47 MP from the Q2 is not state of the art. After using the Q2 after two months. I am not impressed at all. This sensor does not worth the trouble upgrading from Q. High ISO is worst that original Q. ISO 50 is buggy with blown out highlights caused by unreliable live histogram. Drives me crazy. Q2 is noticeably slower than Q. With a broken face detect AF. Q2 processor is too slow to handle 47MP. "

And in July:

"Face detect is quite bad with Q2. Way worst than Q and CL. Really weird and unreliable. I hope that it will be fixed with firmware update.Even weirder, I believe that Q2 share lots of tech with Lumix S1R. Face detect with S1R is really fast and reliable."

And if you read your other contributions, you don't miss a single opportunity to explain how bad the Q2 is. How seriously should you take that? Or you should take it as seriously as your post that the SL2 has only 36MP and will be announced in September.

Repetition doesn't make it better. I would complain to Leica, otherwise nothing changes. Here in the forum nobody will be able to help you. Or: If I was so unhappy, I'd sell the camera and trade it for something better.

I just give you the information that Leica is working on the problem! And plan to fix it in the next Q2 firmware update.

I do not repeat anything. Just new information.

At 4,790€ I expect some kind of high performance. I never asked for Sony eye detect tech. Just the level of performance from 4 years old Q or SL. Nothing more. But Leica just missed this very low mark with Q2

By the way, I made amends for believing a too enthusiastic reseller about SL2. But all latest specs I gave about SL2 are correct.

47MP is not the real problem. Underpowered CPU is the real bottleneck. Actually, it is the issue of all Q2 annoying defects.

Right now I do not like the Q2, as much as I loved the Q. It was a kinda mistake to upgrade. I should have kept the 2500€ of difference and buy the future SL2 instead.

Don’t worry SL2 will be better in every way.
I wished to have been more patient and just wait for SL2.

Nicci--I respect you greatly for both your photographic and "Leica insider" knowledge, but I don't know whether you are serious or joking here. "Better in every way" is a marketing device, playing on our insecurities. It was used to describe the Q2, which you now regret having bought, because, to you, it's not "better in every way." So rest assured, the SL2 will not be better in every way than the SL.
