fernando_b Posted August 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2007 Is there a cross on top? Fernando.
jaapv Posted August 3, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted August 3, 2007 That is indeed the weak point - the choice between the cross and too much sky....
jaapv Posted August 4, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted August 4, 2007 So: a second version... More critique please...
andybarton Posted August 4, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 4, 2007 That is indeed the weak point - the choice between the cross and too much sky.... Your wife should have a church with a shorter spire I don't like the tone of the second one, and both could do with a bit more "punch", IMO. Do you have the ability to adjust the "curves" in your software? How about adding a grad filter to it?
delander † Posted August 4, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 4, 2007 Hi Jaap, I don't want to highjack your thread but my excuse is the names are similar! M8 with 28 ASPH elmarit. I include a crop to show the sharpness of the lens which amazes me. Jeff PS taken before I had any ir filters.

AAAARH! *Must-learn-Photoshop-discipline* The conversions were in the -supposedly very good- PSE5 black and white converter. This one was the Channel mixer - draw your own conclusions... Rolo Posted August 5, 2007 Share #10 Posted August 5, 2007 Jaapv, I'm sure that the plug-ins provide quick ways of repeating an action, but they are only using the PhotoShop tools. Better to explore what the tools can do and then you can pick and choose what you want to do. IMO your image needs the sky, the cross and some more contrast in the foreground. Play with it muh more and your wife will have an image to hang on the wall. Regards, Rolo

Jaap that is a saxon church, no longer used, in Surrey UK. Not often that we get light like that. Jeff
biglouis Posted August 5, 2007 Share #12 Posted August 5, 2007 Jaap I prefer the perspective of the third one and Rolo has given you an good target to aim for in a final version. It is a very striking picture and the CV 15 is the right lens to create such a broad width of foreground and background. LouisB
jaapv Posted August 6, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted August 6, 2007 Thanks guys. This is a great forum I was stuck on this one and it is moving forward again. Yes - Rolo, I was thinking along these lines as well, but maybe a little less. Thanks!

luigi bertolotti Posted August 7, 2007 Share #17 Posted August 7, 2007 The third is for me the best both for contrast and composition; apart this... dealing with the convergent lines of a 15 is always a stress and an almost infinite "try and evaluate"... but PS is really good on this... Melk Abbey, Austria, M4 with SA 21 3,4 a little tilted upward... but PS made its job..
