traderjoe Posted September 21, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 21, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone have an idea about the current turnaround time for sensor replacement at Leica USA in New Jersey once go-ahead has been given? It used to be four months but I'm hoping... Thank you in advance, Joe
Advertisement Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 Hi traderjoe, Take a look here M9 Sensor Replacement Turnaround Time (NJ)?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a5m Posted September 21, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 21, 2019 They've hired some new people there so the turnaround times have gotten shorter. It used to be 4 weeks for cameras and 10 weeks for lenses. Not sure what it is now, and if it's the same for sensor replacement.
traderjoe Posted September 23, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted September 23, 2019 Apparently it's currently approximately three weeks. Much improved!
Lux50 Posted September 23, 2019 Share #4 Posted September 23, 2019 When I sent my M Monochrome to Leica NJ for sensor replacement in November 2018, the turnaround time was one week.

Wow oh wow. When I sent mine to Leica NJ back in 2016 it was six months before I got it back again. Much improved.
Leica Guy Posted October 11, 2019 Share #6 Posted October 11, 2019 I sent in my Q2, which I dropped on Cape Cod in the rain trying to take a storm cloud sunrise shot. It was pretty damaged on the top plate and lots of road rash. NJ took one month to get it back to me and they had to expedite an internal circuit board from Germany. I’m very happy with their service quality and time. Cost too was very fair.
traderjoe Posted October 11, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted October 11, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Around the time I originally post this I had returned my estimate with the "go ahead" and was told 3 weeks. The camera required some repair from a fall (photographer and camera) and a new sensor. Today is the three week mark and I'm waiting to hear from them... I'll post when it's done. esynchronicity Posted February 6, 2020 Share #8 Posted February 6, 2020 Is there any advantage to sending it to Deutschland for the fix, or is that just a waste of shipping charges?

Leica USA will send lenses to Germany on your behalf if you like. Not sure if the same applies in this particular situation. I personally feel more comfortable that my M9-P and Monochrom had their sensors replaced in Germany.

Never updated this. My apologies. Camera was returned in four weeks.
Moki Posted March 6, 2020 Share #11 Posted March 6, 2020 Just got my M9P back for sensor replacement. Total process of sending to NJ and getting back took just under 3 weeks. I paid total of $1725 including tax and shipping 2nd day back to me. There were email updates for Leica at every step of the process.
Martin Horne Posted March 8, 2020 Share #12 Posted March 8, 2020 As an aside. Mine went off to Germany for the full sensor service on 30th January and I’ve had notification that it will be back with me on 10th March. Just under 6 weeks.
