I think they're just trying to make a buck. I see the camera is being introduced at the same time as Fender is introducing a Strat with the same wrap around images as the camera. The Strat is going for $13,000. So for a mere $28,000 you can be the ultimate Andy Summers fan.

Similar questions are asked every time there is another limited edition.  I think it's simple marketing - make only enough to ensure demand is equal to, or greater than, supply.  There are a limited number of collectors who will pay over the top, so know your market.  The only limited edition I would have bought is the Your Mark Monochrom, but sadly not available in the UK and far too expensive to import from the USA with the current FX rate plus import duties, VAT etc.
