Leica camera Display Protection Foil necessary ? (eg. on a CL, or D-Lux)

May I ask those have the experience of using  Display Protection Foil.   Is it necessary or is a good practice to use the Display Protection Foil. on a CL, as well on a D-Lux 7 etc?

Or the displays on the Leica new models are better now than before, not as easy to be scratched?

I would EVER use display protection foils. They are a lot cheaper than a new display and if you want to sell your Leica, the condition is very important, buyer will have a closer look on the display.

Yes, except if you buy one with the sapphire screen cover glass Leica : M8.2 ; M9-P ; M Monochrom ; M-P typ 240 ; M Monochrom typ 246

They are scratchproof except against diamond, but they can break easier.

It's good practice to have display protection.

Here's the one I use on the CL:   disGuard Leica CL Screen Protector

Never used one on any Leica camera. Have never seen any LCD cover damage on any of my cameras either. YMMV

Some people have a terrible time with scratched, nicked, and broken LCD covers on their cameras, smartphones, etc etc. Others never do. I seem to be in the latter group.

If you think about ever selling your camera in the future, then using a protection foil is always a good idea. Potential buyer love it when you write "protected with a foil from day 1".

The foils today are really good. No limitation in optical quality of the display or the use of the touch screen.

No these screens are so good that you don’t need to protect. That’s the point.

Never used one and I don't get scratches. But that's because I use a wrist strap or hand strap. If you use a neck strap, the screen gets regular abrasion from shirt buttons, zips, belt buckles, jeans rivets and any other hard item on your body.

Oh, and you'll get far more for your camera if you advertise it as "never been out of the box".
