Advertisement Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Hi Laki, Take a look here prominent m8 users and the lenscap. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest sirvine Posted August 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 1, 2007 If this had been a "Leica single-lens reflex camera", this wouldn't have happened.
Laki Posted August 1, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted August 1, 2007 If this had been a "Leica single-lens reflex camera", this wouldn't have happened. why not? he still could have left the cap on, but you're right he might have found out earlier. the writer seems to be really well informed i didnt know that its only 1700 pounds in u.k., maybe i should check for a flight to london :
Guest Metroman Posted August 1, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 1, 2007 LoL - poor old Eric! However, this was in the Daily Mail - not a name you associate with journalism, integrity or accuracy - as shown by the Kate Moss caption, it's actually Victoria Beckham Wonder where the 'hack' got the price from - mind you even at that price I still wouldn't want one. guidomo Posted August 1, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 1, 2007 It is amazing how the article is trying to make fun of Eric and then gets it all wrong because of poor research. BTW, what lens? 75 or 90?
marknorton Posted August 1, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 1, 2007 I've left a comment, advising them of their pricing SNAFU. By my reckoning, the £1700 is just for the lens... I think it's the 90/2.

erl Posted August 1, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 1, 2007 Yeah! Well, I expect my non-complimentary remark about the commenters observations on the camera type will not be published either.
stunsworth Posted August 1, 2007 Share #9 Posted August 1, 2007 " ...the 62-year-old musician reached for his state-of-the art Leica single-lens reflex camera..." And it's an SLR to boot! I suppose we should be grateful that it's actually Clapton and not someone else. Once again the Daily Mail shows why it's only reason for existance is to line the cat litter tray. cbretteville Posted August 1, 2007 Share #12 Posted August 1, 2007 Come on, all of us have done it at one time or another. Admittedly not as often after I got an M with an internal meter , but still I have the odd blank frame on my negative albums.
nryn Posted August 1, 2007 Share #13 Posted August 1, 2007 I've left my lenscap on many times; it's very easy to do on a rangefinder. That it's Eric Clapton doesn't phase me at all. That there are people waiting to take photos of celebrities making mistakes in public is, at least in my opinion, a waste of human effort. My god I would hate to be famous. blakley Posted August 1, 2007 Share #19 Posted August 1, 2007 The only time I ever did this was on a photo workshop; Joe McNally, who was one of the workshop instructors, was the one who noticed and alerted me to the problem. He is, unfortunately, a very funny guy. I immediately took the lenscaps off all my lenses and have never put any of them back on. It's just hoods & filters from here on out....
