jaeger Posted August 6, 2019 Author Share #21 Posted August 6, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think I know what am I looking for. The swirl bokeh is what I want - some say fugly bokeh. Back then, I took some pictures with a Leica R 180mm f/2.8 V.2 and the swirl background was awesome.. I sold it because M has shutter lag when using live view which I have post it before. I've learn my limitation for nothing over 90mm for rangefinder and no more EVF. All my current eight lenses are modern and somewhat "analytic" so I like a lens that will give me a different look and for special projects. Just for reference, the swirl in modern Petzval is too much. Helios 40-2 is quite nice but only work on my Nikon. Summarit 1.5 swirl beautifully and it's native to Leica but hard to find a clean one, and a clean copy is pricy. I think besides vintage Canon 1.2 & 1.4 LTM, modern replicas like voigtlander 50mm f1.1 & 75mm f1.5 (from sample images) & previously mention Helio are also pretty good. Ecar Posted August 6, 2019 Share #22 Posted August 6, 2019 Try Lomography's Jupiter-3+. A good replica of the J-3, with no cleaning/"shimming" adjustment hassle (well, not quite actually: mine lost a couple of aperture ring retaining grub screws straight out of the box, but has been fine ever since). Njom Posted August 6, 2019 Share #23 Posted August 6, 2019 Hi guys, I’m not new but this is my first involvement in the forum. Recently I purchased Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AI for my Nikon df I found it soft at f/1.2 but sharp at f/2 but it seems to me it performs better on my Leica m 240 et Nikon Z6 at f/1.2. Welcome, dear visitor! jaques Posted August 10, 2019 Share #28 Posted August 10, 2019 perhaps one of the great advantages of old lenses- is the dirt, the grime, the failed coatings, the haze and the aberrations. All of these change a picture so that you don't just end up with a clear 'as it looked' image of a rather boring subject. This is why Lomo cameras are so popular- the lenses are so bad. I call these type of cameras 'instant artist' cameras. 1
