Therefore at any time, depending upon which hot shoe the assembler picks up, the serial numbers can vary forwards or backwards by this 2,000 amount within a build batch. The initial batch lasted up until the end of December, so that a camera in this batch even if it was built just before the end of the year, could have a very early serial number like mine, of 3100302.
