Ron Naeve Posted July 13, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) My new Q2 doesn't have Bluetooth On/Off. It only is off. I've reset the camera twice but it still is missing. And there isn't anything regarding GPS shown in the menus. When trying to pair it only gives option to press "SET" to abort. I have my LG phone and iPad setup with the FOTOS application and ready to pair/sync. but they can't find the camera because I can't turn Bluetooth ON. Help required. thanks guys. pico Posted July 13, 2019 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2019 Is Bluetooth turned on in your smartphone?
bullmoon Posted July 13, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 13, 2019 (edited) Where it shows Bluetooth OFF, if you select that and click the SET button, it should change to Bluetooth ON. Is that not working? The instructions in the manual don't seem quite right - "Select Bluetooth, Select On" - should say Select Bluetooth, Press SET to toggle ON/OFF. The pairing is/was odd to me - I never see the camera show up in the phone as a Device. But it did work - seems like the Bluetooth just kicks off a WIFI connection between the phone and camera. Ron Naeve Posted July 13, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted July 13, 2019 (edited) Pico, Yes, the phone and ipad have bluetooth on. Bullmoon, The display after clicking "Bluetooth Off" says pair with Leica FOTOS, Press "SET" to abbort. that's what has me so confused. I Thought maybe because I have only DNG file format selected and no JPEG that it was causing this. So I set up DNG and small JPEG, but it didn't change anything. I noticed the self timer function was grayed out, but I discovered it was because I had continuous frames selected. you have to set it to single frame in order for the self timer to work. I'm wondering if some other setting is preventing the "BlueTooth" On from appearing ? Edited July 13, 2019 by Ron Naeve
Leica Guy Posted July 13, 2019 Share #5 Posted July 13, 2019 (edited) Shot in the dark. I’ve been caught in bracketing mode before and couldn't get access to some function. Can’t remember. I’d set the camera up for straightforward single photo shot. No timer. No bracketing. AF Field. A shutter. A aperture. A ISO. Then try again. It should pair normally then you can turn Bluetooth on. I’m confused as to why the camera says Bluetooth on yet it uses WiFi. My experience is it’s something simple then it'll work. Keep trying. Ron Naeve Posted July 14, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted July 14, 2019 Hi Guys, I played with my Bluetooth settings on the phone and it recognized the Q2 when I searched for it. but it still can't pair with it. Question for all of you. Do you actually have a Bluetooth "On" indicator on your camera? Or is it either on when paired automatically or you manually turn it off. I don't have "Bluetooth ON" on the display, only Off as I reported yesterday.
Leica Guy Posted July 14, 2019 Share #7 Posted July 14, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have two symbols in the lower right of the display. The upper is a Bluetooth symbol. It does not say on or off. Its only there when FOTOS is selected ON. Same with the lower symbol which looks like a camera with a radiating signal coming out the bottom. I tried to take a pic, but the iPhone is terrible at this. Welcome, dear visitor! Ron Naeve Posted July 15, 2019 Author Share #8 Posted July 15, 2019 FINALLY! I now know that the “on” doesn’t appear until you first pair with the phone or tablet. I couldn’t get it to work with myAndroid, so I tried it again and it paired with the iPad. NOW the “on” appears on the camera. I then tried the Android phone again. It took about 10 minutes, but it finally worked. I’m now set. Thanks iQ2, and everyone else who helped.

RoySmith Posted April 15, 2021 Share #10 Posted April 15, 2021 Step 1: On the Q2: in the Leica FOTOS menu select Bluetooth On and then Pair Step 2: In Leica FOTOS App: tap the “ + “ and select the camera model Step 3: Join the wi-fi network when requested. Leica has a video showing the steps: Cheers
Eliza Posted August 21, 2023 Share #11 Posted August 21, 2023 I had the same problem with my Q2. As a last resort I deleted the Fotos app from my phone and re-installed it.. Bingo! Give that a try. Nothing else helped for me.
