jeffz Posted June 23, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am in the market for a hand grip for my film M camera. I see that the used market has the Leica 14405 handgrip. What is it made of?
Advertisement Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Hi jeffz, Take a look here M-A, MP Hand Grip. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ShivaYash Posted June 23, 2019 Share #2 Posted June 23, 2019 A nice quality plastic. I have one for my cameras. And switch it over as needed. Highly recommended for grip.
ckuwajima Posted June 23, 2019 Share #3 Posted June 23, 2019 I have one for each of my M film cameras. Fits all film M, except M5. The only issue is that it tends to stain the bottom of the base plate with a black goo.
a.noctilux Posted June 23, 2019 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2019 As Shiva said... 14405 is very nice. That is high quality synthetic in most part and metal for center screw (to attach tripod on it) plus the "key/screw" part to attach the 14405 to M body. For tough use the central screw is much better for attaching it to tripod than the unbalanced screw under M's base plate. Welcome, dear visitor! Ouroboros Posted June 23, 2019 Share #6 Posted June 23, 2019 I think the Leica M grip is an ugly piece of plastic junk. There are aesthetically more pleasing options around, keep an eye on Ebay. I recall Tom Abrahamsson produced a grip for film M Leicas that was quite nice.

Are you teasing us? A link to Tom's M grip would be dearly appreciated.
Pyrogallol Posted June 24, 2019 Share #8 Posted June 24, 2019 I had an M handgrip for a while but found that it just added more bulk to what ought to be a small camera.
heidinabucket Posted April 26, 2023 Share #9 Posted April 26, 2023 Hi all. Does that grip connect to the Leica Monochrome 246? Cheers!
andybarton Posted April 26, 2023 Share #10 Posted April 26, 2023 No, it won’t fit. It’s for these two film cameras only.
madNbad Posted April 26, 2023 Share #11 Posted April 26, 2023 I bought this 3D printed one from a eBay seller. It's well designed, is notched for Arca-Swiss, has a cut out in the hand grip so you can still use the self time and it cost about sixty USD. Welcome, dear visitor! I have owned the Leica grip, two different Photo Equip ML grips, a 3D printed Buttergrip and now this one. This grip is more comfortable to use than the others, doesn’t block the self timer on my M4 and it has a centered tripod mount plus works with the Arca-Swiss plate on my tripod. It offers much more than any of the others for less than half the price of the Leica grip. It was designed by someone who had used the other grips and addressed their flaws.
Sensorix Posted April 27, 2023 Share #14 Posted April 27, 2023 That's fine, no doubt, but it doesn't make it beautiful.🫣

And AFAIK no-one else makes one for the M5! Also, complaints about 'ooooh sooo ugly!' wouldn't matter on an M5....
