ERA23 Posted June 14, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey guys, I'm new here so im gonna introduce myself. My first Leica was a M4-p that was defective and has this unique light spot that forms on film. The whole experience of shooting this camera has brought me here, in a 3 year long obsession with digital leica and the need to own one. I finally have the opportunity to buy an M10 but I need your help. I will buy used because I cant afford new. Option 1: M10 Silver (used a couple of scratches on the screen and a little dent on the side), with the money left i can buy a Cron 50mm asph not coded, and a cron 35mm asph v2. (8500 euros) Option 2: M10-p Safari Bundle with lens 1000shots. This is from a private owner that wants to sell his to buy an even more limited MP. On top of this I would add a 35mm cron asph v2. (9800 euros) My budget is 9000 so i dont know if going above my budget for the safari is worth it. I'm scared I will get bored of the colour, and or will gather to much attention when walking around, more than the silver? Does anyone have any advice other than follow your heart? The seller sent me pictures of the safari but it looks very green rather than olive, he shot the image indoors with white/bluish light so i dont know if that also affected the colour. Do any of you have pictures of it being used in the wild? Thank you in advance and I cant wait to talk to all of you
Advertisement Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Hi ERA23, Take a look here M10 and M10-p Safari. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted June 14, 2019 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2019 It is a fine camera set. As long as you don't actually use it for Safaris...🙄
Jeff S Posted June 14, 2019 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2019 Buy what makes you happy. All Ms are capable machines. My preference is to buy from reputable dealers, with warranty. Jeff
ERA23 Posted June 14, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted June 14, 2019 I guess the silver, what i'm scared off is the 50mm, cant seem to find a good clean cron v5 for a good price. The one thing that has the safari on top is that it still has 1.5 years of leica warranty.@jaapv LOL! Unless you can call going out in paris a safari ill be fine! jaapv Posted June 14, 2019 Share #5 Posted June 14, 2019 Make sure you get the Summis to fit to the Crons. Half-lenses are not very useful for full frame.
Jeff S Posted June 14, 2019 Share #6 Posted June 14, 2019 Even if you just get dealer warranty, that will give you time to test for any issues. Personal insurance can often cover other future circumstances. Jeff
Broadoaker Posted June 15, 2019 Share #7 Posted June 15, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I sold my black M10-P to get an M10-P Safari. If it's shallow to change a camera purely for its color then I'm guilty but you only live once, so follow your heart! 7
OR120 Posted June 15, 2019 Share #8 Posted June 15, 2019 Did you get the Summicron 50 Safari with your M10-P Safari?
muah Posted June 15, 2019 Share #9 Posted June 15, 2019 (edited) I will get Safari as there is no dent or scratch. in case you want to upgrade, you can still get good resale value versus a dented M10. unless the M10 is heavily discounted. The Safari will also have all new stuff like silent shutter and such..... Edited June 15, 2019 by muah
ERA23 Posted June 15, 2019 Author Share #10 Posted June 15, 2019 So basically the m10 is in very good shape for 5k and the safari is at 7.5k with lens So yeah don’t know, Could some of you actually send me pictures of the safari being used cause I can’t seem to find many

From the pictures that the man sent me it seems much greener than it it should be as I expected a much more olive/military green

A pleasing ‘Olive’. The camera, not the tourist. He was Japanese 1

tomvoigt Posted June 16, 2019 Share #17 Posted June 16, 2019 I bought my M10-P Safari in April this year after heavily thinking then same thoughts you're going through...some days later I saw a combo M10-P Safari with a silver Summilux and the decision was made. I own now the Safari with an Summilux M1:1,4 50mm ASPH. and would never give it away. The olive color is everything but boring...

james.liam Posted June 17, 2019 Share #19 Posted June 17, 2019 ...also, recall that this paint scheme nowadays is a curiosity but was created for combat journalists who sought better cover. The olive color replicated those models and isn’t bright or gaudy. Meant to blend into the forest or jungle.
