Q2 Lens Cap

Question and a comment... does the Q2 and Q use the same lens cap?  I'm disappointed the Q2 lens cap loosens up and it's fallen off a couple times.  I can order another (most sites are the for the Q), and I want to make sure it fits.

With that said, the KUVRD rubber lens cap fits perfect on it, over the hood and covers the bump where you switch btn autofocus and manual. I use it on my Nocti with a variable ND and tried it on the Q2. Not to tight or loose, just right.  The new lens cap is going in the box...

I  bought a 49mm cap from Breakthrough Photography.

I left the cap in the box. Never use it. The hood and a UV filter are great.

I'm not the only one who has bought a cheap plastic 49 mm cap. The original cap on the Q is not convenient, it's falling down all the time.

Doesn't the lens hood get in the way, taking the cap on and off?

I use the Op/Tech Hood Hat-Mini on both the Q and Q2. This hood fits fine and can be easily slipped into a pocket when slid off of the lens and hood. Certainly easier than fumbling with the supplied hood. Also much cheaper to be replaced than the original cap.

The cap is designed to fit over the lens without hood or over the hood.

 

Edit: I keep the hood on my camera pretty much all the time.  I put the cap over the hood when the camera is in its bag.   When the camera comes out of the bag the cap comes off and stays in the bag.

I think Leica can exchange the hood if it doesn't stay on. It works best on the shade, not so much on the lens itself, as far as I know.
