I've never been a fan of taking this sort of picture with the Noctilux.  I did this early on in my Noctilux career but I stopped some time ago.  My reason being when you have a clump of some subject, in this case flowers, the single flower that is in focus surrounded by several other flowers in various stages of focus seems confusing and a distraction.  Some flowers almost in focus, some way out of focus, etc.  If you're happy with this, then that's good; that's all that counts.  It's your photo and it's good to be happy with the work we produce.

No matter the topic, the Noctilux has a unique way of 'seeing'. It is certainly a challenge to find and feature the 'plane of focus' that will tell the story my eye perceives. It has made me see things quite differently, sometimes rather like painting than taking a photograph. Below my mini Maples trees taken with the M10-P and Noctilux 1.0. Evikne, Metin and a number of forum members helped me to decide to get this lens and an inspiration on its use.

Wanted to share my happiness this day. This image has received a "Mark of Excellence award from I-Shot-It Premium Photo Contest. A thank you to all those who encouraged my use of this lovely painterly lens! Cheers.

think an ND filter would have helped with the blown out areas on the car but I don't have one yet.

I think a ND Filter will do the same as a shorter exposure would have done.
One solution for blown out highlights would be to make one right and one darker exposure and combine them in post later…
