This is not directed at any particular image that's been posted in this thread but in general . . . A Boring Image + Beautiful Bokeh = Boring Image . . . or . . . "You can't polish a turd"

Not the best start to your posting here.

Seems like a reasonable opinion to me.

Actually John, it's my second post and I have, so far, posted "Likes" for 10 of the images in this thread. No offense meant. But am I wrong?

Stick around for a while, and you will see worse.  Lot’s of banal photos taken with the latest camera/lens/system with people getting hot and bothered about this or that minute detail, then there will be pages and pages of comparison images, actually showing bugger all.

Invest your time in running around the forum pointing out that this or that lens isn’t worth it and you haven’t seen a single shot of note ... and you won’t derive much pleasure here.  We have people who’ve been here a long time and others come and go - some who go we are richer for them being here and poorer for their departure.

By all means, tell it like you see it.  If you’ve read through this thread, you will see you are not the first to make this observation, nor will you be the last.  What is your point?  I’m not saying this to be aggressive or rude - but what is your point?

You can’t polish a turd ... nice.

Now, think about the person who buys a Leica camera - a particular sort of photographer; they’ve joined this forum - an even more particular person; and they’ve bought a Noctilux ...  they post here, and you say ...

I’m not sure how your post added to this thread, other than to offend some other members who, until now, were very happy with their new lens.

Yeh.. you're probably right, but unless I'm specifically asked, if I've got nothing nice to say I just keep quiet.  Would be good to see something from you, who knows maybe I'll feel the need to comment.

Your first sentence is my point. I suppose I was surprised that this was the case in a Leica forum. I suppose I don't belong here John. My bluntness is clearly offensive.

No, I don’t think that’s right.  Bluntness is good.

This forum is a great place to build (very good) relationships.  People here are interesting, entertaining and informative.  Sometimes you even see a breathtaking photo ...😀

Thanks Daniel.

I started posting here recently hoping to get some criticism. One never gets criticism on Flickr or Instagram. I know I am susceptible to falling in love with one aspect of a photo and thinking it is better than it really is because of that narrow focus. So, here’s to honest critiques, realty testing, and growth as photographers.

Now that ya'll have kissed and made up, can we have some more images to "critique".  Ha ha.  Social distancing is so fun.  Okay.  I'll post a "boring" image and ya'll have at it. P.S. Known far and wide for a sometimes out of control sense of sarcasm.  For the studious of the group, this is a 1916 Excelsior board track racer and a my mini, porch buddies.  Cheers.

I like boring images posted.  Gives me a (probably false) sense that my shots are exceptional.  More turds, please.

This was shot on a Leica CL + M-L Adapter and Noctilux .95.

Keep the Nocti - Give me the car! Great use of the Noctilux to separate the 911 from its surroundings!
