Try photographing raisin bran and see what happens. 1

If there’s too much noise to begin with you’ll end up with a plastic look with C1, too. Your only solution is to get the S1 in addition for low light situations. I’ll have to use it at ISO 6400 today because the light isn’t good and I’ll need a fast shutter speed to freeze the action.
jaapv Posted April 27, 2019 Share #29 Posted April 27, 2019 Hmm... Try Topaz DeNoise. I think it is quite good at avoiding the "digital" look.

Ist there really such an quite strong noise in the RAW? Or is LR doing a worser interpretation than other RAW converter do? I would try different RAW converter before using other denoising software in post...

verwackelt Posted April 27, 2019 Share #32 Posted April 27, 2019 Did you try C1? If you do not like the results with C1 AND LR i would go with the S1. If you need HighRes. then keep the S1R and avoid High Iso situations… If you are rich keep both 😉

Robert, based on the photos I see on your website, I’d say, no. Also, read Steve Huff’s review on the S1 if you haven’t already. He’s spot on about the sensor except that he doesn’t mention that it’s -1 EV to the SL. So, ISO 6400 on the S1 is ISO 3200 on the SL but the colors don’t look washed out. It’s just the way Panasonic set the ISO dial.

No, I am not rich, but fortunate enough to be able to afford both if I deemed it necessary. However, it is highly unlikely I will keep both; the S1 will make a perfect companion to my S007 while I await the SL2.🤔

His review of the S1 was the best, from a practical user's point of view, that I have seen to date.

Same here except I don’t use MF. One more thing, the S1 can blow Highlights easily but you’ll figure this one out, of course. The best one can find out about the SL2 release date is ‘hopefully before year end.’
