Advertisement Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Hi fernando_b, Take a look here MTF of 135/2.8 2nd version, APO 180/3.4.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted April 12, 2019 Share #2  Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Hello Fernando,  Just checked my Leica Pocket Guide 8th Edition, they are on the book as well as other interesting lenses. Apo-Telyt-R 3.4/180mm is better than Elmarit-R 135mm II * in real life use 😉. As side note, interesting article on Apo-Telyt-R180mm by Marco Cavina Where you can find this test with MTF Side note two : I can use on this Apo 180mm Leica x2 Apo-Extender-R = quite decent 360mm light lens  I can't "copy" those MTF as Copyright exists. You may buy this interesting book : ISBN 978 -1-874707-00-4  * I use the Elmarit-M 135mm which has the same optical cell as R lens, and easier to use on my M with it's "x1.5 goggle" Edited April 12, 2019 by a.noctilux
adan Posted April 12, 2019 Share #3 Â Posted April 12, 2019 Leica's MTF chart for the most recent 135 f/2.8 can be found on page 76 of this document (it is the v.3 M version, but identical glass/performance as the V.2 R) http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/images/3/3a/Puts-2002-M-lenses.pdf It is the case that Leitz/Leica just did not promote technical details of their 1970s-80s lenses as extensively as their brochures do today. fernando_b Posted April 12, 2019 Author Share #4 Â Posted April 12, 2019 Thank you all. I have other MTF of the two lenses I wrote. I am interested in official MTF curves, i.e. the LEICA or LEITZ ones! If they exist... Fernando.
spydrxx Posted April 13, 2019 Share #5 Â Posted April 13, 2019 Irwin Puts included a number of Leica MTF charts in his latest edition of his Compendium.

fernando_b Posted August 29, 2020 Author Share #8 Â Posted August 29, 2020 These are similar to mine: I have Put's Leica Pocket Book 7th edition. Fernando.
adan Posted August 29, 2020 Share #9 Â Posted August 29, 2020 It should be noted the LEICA MTF charts are exactly what Puts reproduces in his publications (as jaap says, he had access). They are not even redrawings, just photo-lithographic (or these days, digital) copies of the factory files (perhaps with slightly different headline fonts added). There is nothing more "official" as to the images. It is also worth noting that Leica publishes theoretical MTFs, as predicted and graphed by their lens design software. Rather than as tested on an optical bench with actual glass. Although I find them to be reasonably illustrative of actual lens behavior most of the time.
