I think 1.3 is a good improvement from 1.1 - the "zoom bug" thing is not a issue for me and I don't even see it as a bug.. like trying to fire off another shot on a mechanical camera before you finish cocking the shutter..just doesn't work that way..or is it a bug on my mac when I get the spinning pizza? I don't think so.. we want these things to be as fast as we think..they aint there yet! I also have see an improvement in higher iso shots.. so load the thing and enjoy.

Rob--just reproduced the hang with M8 images on an SDF card, even if DMR images are taken there too.

This is a minor drag for those of us who shoot both. Time was you'd put an SD card in the DMR formatted and shot with the M8 and it might not show properly (that's fine) but it wouldn't lock up the DMR (very bad error condition).

So now you have to follow the rule "always format when inserting the card". Let's hope you don't make a mistake. (I guess if you had the chimp turned off it would be ok too).

Jamie,

I use both systems and have always just made a habit of formating whenever I put in a new memory card. Just good housekeeping in my opinion.

I haven't had an opportunity to try out the new firmware yet. As the saying goes: "The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese." :)

David--you're quite right of course. But in the heat of a shoot with the DMR and M8, I have on occasion put the wrong the card in the wrong camera. Always press play before I format, usually ;)

In that case, the DMR would lock up. Not good, but at least I'll know I did something wrong!

If it does lock up, just pop the battery out immediately, take out the SD card, put battery back in and turn the DMR back on after inserting new SD card. ;)

Rob, I don't have a DMR, and am only reading this thread out of interest. I was wondering if on the DMR there is a way to jump from the Info screen for one photo directly to the Info screen for the next or previous photo. If so, and you do this, does the camera hang? If you zoom at that time? The thumbnail would not be built yet...
