Neil Macmillan Posted April 9, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 9, 2019 The circle and the tree are nicely juxtaposed! Nice B&W treatment.

Iduna Posted April 11, 2019 Share #4 Posted April 11, 2019 this is a perfect composition for b&w. It gives me an inspiration for the start of my own b&w analogue film project. I like the fine shades and details.

Having shot film forever I now don't miss it at all....digital rocks!

fotografr Posted April 17, 2019 Share #8 Posted April 17, 2019 (edited) Exquisite b&w tonal values and beautifully composed. You managed to turn a simple scene into a stunning photograph. I love it. On second thought, not such a "simple scene." I wish I could get b&w conversions that good from my M10. Edited April 19, 2019 by fotografr

Brent, thank you so much for this absolutely delightful comment, you have made my day. Where I live the landscape/countryside is very stark, if photographers want a nice image they get lots of practice at making something out of nothing... maybe that's not such a bad thing. For b&w conversions I just use LR Preset B&W Number 5 with Contrast and Blacks bumped up plus probably increasing Clarity. I have not been able to detect any difference between the (now gone) MM v1 and the M10 results either on screen or printed, wonder why.
fotografr Posted April 21, 2019 Share #10 Posted April 21, 2019 Thank you for the explanation. It gives me hope that I can get back to the tonal qualities I loved with my MM1s, also now gone. I'd have kept them forever but after having the sensors replaced I could no longer get the same image quality. I'm sure the new sensors came from a different source and the output just wasn't the same. I had two of them and finally sent them packing. It was an emotional parting. I understand completely and also felt like weeping when the time came to say goodbye to the MM1 - that lasted for about a day which was the time it took to get comfortable with the new M10. I now have two M10s and a year and a half on still experience a thrill of pleasure each time I pick one of them up - emotional!
