PaulJohn Posted April 7, 2019 Share #22 Posted April 7, 2019 Take notes on what you did. Don't trust your memory. Instruct your developer not to compensate for exposure errors when scanning. This can hide your mistakes and slow your learning.

I have a notebook and I take notes of every shot - will do so for a few roles and see how its pans out, a bit time consuming.

If your lab doesn't want to deal with your tedious requests you can either 1) get a new lab* or 2) look for signs of banding and noise in scans, a telltale sign that the lab used a ton of gain on a given frame. * Richard Photo Lab in Valencia, CA, just north of LA, is really good about scanning to order. They'll also offer mercilessly honest feedback like "images inconsistently exposed" when they deliver your scans. I really like them but I'm on the East Coast and I do my own developing and digitizing. Speaking of, I just posted this piece on my new digitizing workflow and started a thread but perhaps it's relevant here as well: <http://bit.ly/2UHWxKQ>.
AlexK76 Posted April 18, 2019 Share #26 Posted April 18, 2019 I use the Voigtländer VC Meter II for my Leica M4-2 and I'm very happy with it. It is not coupled with the speed dial of your camera but I think this is the best on camera meter option for your Leica. You can still buy them new. https://www.voigtlaender.de/accessories/?lang=en

Just curious ... That would be nice to know if those 14 rolls were exposed with or without lightmeter 😉

I got them yesterday, I'm blown away with the results, I love them. I was very insecure going for the MA but I'm happy, I will post a few samples.
