Any idea whether Boston store has any available for sale?  I ordered from BH and still waiting.

They had a couple, but I believe they are calling folks on the waiting list.

I purchased mine from Fireside Cameras in San Francisco, my local shop, on 2 May. My retirement gift for me!!!  Also my new grandma camera as I am not the fastest focuser with my m10.

My Q2 is also my retirement gift to me and the grandpa camera. Two and four-year-olds are way too fast for manual focusing! Sadly none of the three stores that have me on the waiting list have called yet. Did Fireside have a list as well?

Yes, but only a few folks are on it.  The rep visits every Thursday, midday, if you are near and want to play with one.

Earlier today, District Camera had a Q2 in stock.

Thanks for letting us know. I ordered it last night too. Just after ordering, I checked back and it showed out of stock so I think I ordered the last one. Called them this morning and confirmed my order with them. It will be shipped this coming Monday.

We have about 6 Leica authorised stores in London, UK, including two Leica stores. I went into one of the authorised stores on the day the Q was released in June 2015 and bought one there and then. I did not put myself on the Q2 list for a while, then went on the list at Leica Mayfair and am told it will still be at least another 4 months or so. I spoke to my original Q supplier on Wednesday and he said he may have one for me in a few weeks. Let's see.

I got my Q2 on Friday. I got on the list at Camera West very, very early. I can say it's worth the wait - hang in there!

I am on their wait list too. When did you sign up?

Also - everybody - please tell what accessories I need to get?

(fast) SD cards, screen protector, extra battery is a start. Anything else to  get started?

I am anxiously waiting for my Q2 as well.  In addition to the items you mentioned above, I have purchased a LIM black half case, a Vi Vante strap, and a B&W clear filter. Now all I need is the camera!!!!! On wait list at B&H and Boston Leica shop.

Hello,

I believe it all depends on what kind of shooting you do..  I picked up an extra battery and if you use flash.. but most dont  these days.   extra cards are a good thing too... and a screen protector  might be a good idea too.

I don't want to stir unrest but I think there is a lack of candor from retailers as to how many units they are receiving. I'm on the wait list since 3/12/19 at 2 major US based Leica boutiques and was recently told  by senior employees at both stores that the wait would be a few more months. One of the boutiques said they only got 2 units in the last month.

It strikes me as odd that Leica would not allocate inventory to their boutiques first and then to independent stores like B&H and various smaller stores mentioned by others in this topic post.

Perhaps the boutiques are selling them to VIPS or walk-ins off the street(:

Leica has a handle on the number of cameras that pass through each authorized store, and probably allocate accordingly. e.g. if B&H sells 10,000 leicas a year and a boutique sells 100 leicas a year, it seems sensible to allocate 100x more to B&H at launch than to the boutique.

If Leica did otherwise, they risk the boutiques trying to flip excess inventory on Ebay etc, while bigger outlets face shortages, which makes the average customer much worse off.

I don't think we have enough information to allege anything beyond that.

(On the list at B&H since April 1)

I must admit, similar thoughts have crossed my mind having signed-up when my west coast retailer opened a list on the day of release....
