That works to join my home WiFi, and the old Leica SL iOS app then sees the camera, without me having to join my phone to the SL's own network first (it also means of course that I still have an internet connection available on my phone). The camera doesn't display an IP address however, so browser access still isn't possible. I did however use my router software to find the camera's IP address, and my browser did partially connect to it, but unfortunately I just got a "forbidden" error (on a pink background, so it didn't look like Chrome's own error, it did receive something at least from the camera). Andy, This sounds like exactly the same Wifi mess as Leica perpetrated on the CL back in November, where even if can find the IP address via the DHCP table on my router, CL Connect is blocked. I spoke at length to Leica UK, who agreed it was wrong and said they would make sure that Wetzlar knew about it. I used to use WiFi browser access from my MacBook Pro on my CL nearly every day and have reverted to using my SL since, using FW3.1, where web browser access still works perfectly (100% consistent and stable).  I definitely don't want to lose that by updating to 3.2. I have actually bought a new Mr Lim half case for my CL, so that I can get the SD card out quickly, rather than having to unscrew the Leica grip, like I was having to do, to access images on the SD card, having lost web browser access. Last time I used the Fotos app it was unstable, inconsistent and basically too flaky to use on an iPad, having improved little since the early beta testing days. The older SL and CL iOS apps actually still work better than Fotos. The screen resolution on the Fotos app is horrible, being an iPhone app, without even a proper up-rezzing engine. This is the sort of thing we got from other app makers in the early days of the iPad. I suspect the Fotos display is 750 x 1334 px or maybe even less, which does not look good on my 2048 x 2732 px iPad Pro 12.9's screen. Wilson
Advertisement Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Hi wlaidlaw, Take a look here New Firmware/Fotos App?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
scott kirkpatrick Posted February 3, 2019 Share #42  Posted February 3, 2019 @AZN: I'm getting normal behavior on the R to L Leica adapter with both the 980/1.4 and the R 21-25. I saw OK Auto ISO behavior using your 200-3200 and 1/f setting and the min shutter speed adapted to changing the focal length on the 21-35. I took a few pictures and the EXIF information was correct, including aperture and focal length. I think the time spent with the 75 SL lens initialized something that was incorrect when I first tried it. I installed 3.4 on my other SL, which had a CL lens mounted on it, and initially was unable to communicate with the lens over FOTOS, but after shutting down and starting up again, things seemed all right. @Wilson, I totally agree with you that LUF moderated beta checks have been useful, and can be conducted in a way that doesn't cause Internet embarassment or spread of misinformation. The deadline of the L-Mount product announcements from Panasonic, which this firmware release was synched with, may have caused some haste. I also wish I hadn't updated my SL firmware for the last couple of iterations, not having the ability to instant-review the image in EVF-only mode (the only mode I ever use, at least when shooting handheld), is a pain. LocalHero1953 Posted February 3, 2019 Share #44 Â Posted February 3, 2019 (edited) Browser access is vital for serious remote connections on the go. However much I want to use my phone for quick and dirty downloading to Lightroom CC and uploading to social media, if I want to do any decent photo processing while travelling I need a good screen on a tablet at least* - which in my case means a Windows Surface Pro (which can't run Fotos) not an iPad. We need an update to Fotos asap. Â * I am happy with the controls for postprocessing in LR CC on a phone, but phone screens just aren't big enough even for social media posts - I have been dismayed later at obvious failings (noise, sharpness, white/black points) of posts I've made from my phone. Of course, all those on this forum who hate smartphones and social media will look smug at this comment! Guest Posted February 3, 2019 Share #45 Â Posted February 3, 2019 These new firmware bugs would be somewhat less irritating if Leica allowed the installation of older versions - there is no good reason this is blocked (I wouldn't care if the settings were reset with no option to restore from a backup), other than presumably the "ease of support" of most customers being on the latest. When your record of introducing new bugs is so poor however, you'd think this would be seen as a negative!

There's a new update to the IoS app out today, takes it to version 1.1.1. Haven't tried it, the accompanying blurb says bug fixes and stability improvement. scott kirkpatrick Posted February 23, 2019 Share #51  Posted February 23, 2019 (edited) I have 1.1.1 on my iPad (it just appeared -- I went to the App store and it only said "open" so it must be self-updating.) Connected to M10-D. Haven't had time to check whether some new controls are exposed. If so will report that in the M10 forum. But I checked that it connects OK to my SL. Of course it sets the AF into face detect, which I don't care for. If I want to use Fotos on a tripod as a remote trigger, I want to get access to touchscreen or joystick AF or focus aids. I can do touch AF. There is a little square for the active area that comes up, but after a few tries, the SL disconnects, and I have to dive into its menus to start it up again, as well as tell Fotos to try to reconnect. I thought the SL disconnects were being worked on when 1.1.0 was readied for release. My Android phone is off on loan at the moment. Has someone else checked speed and stability of connections in Android?
