@stephengv

So that they can investigate whether the M body or the lenses need adjustment. Therefore, they need always more lenses. This doesn’t apply to Wetzlar as they have more sophisticated adjustment machines there.

Might be worth mailing them to ask. If you're not confident that they'll respond to an email in English, I can probably come up with something in passable Japanese which should at least get a response - which I can then put back into English. Let me know if you need that.

Here's their address, directly from their homepage. Also bear in mind that "next week" could coincide with New Year here - smaller shops will probably be closed from around the 29th December to the 3rd of January, or thereabouts.

Thank you for the reminder. I already emailed them, they are open on the 4 January.

my M typ 240 is 4 years old, no major problem so far with the RF.

The only minor problem is when focusing at infinity, the rangefinder patch on some lenses dont line up. I already sent my lenses in Germany, but not the camera. Despite that, my lenses still focus on infinity.

Hence, I want it check and calibrated, is it Wise to have it check and calibrated in Kyoto?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  With the EVF on the M240 you can easily check it yourself.

I'm going to Kyoto next week. I found out that Leica Kyoto offers a Rangefinder adjustment service that will take 1 to 2 hours and with a very minimal amount.

Has anyone tried this service? does it also include lubrication? thanks.

There is nothing to lubricate. ;)

My experience with Leica Ginza has been excellent. They calibrated both my M9 and M240 in a matter of hours. They provided test pictures made with my Noctilux to verify and illustrate. Since this service, both bodies focus accurately, if I do my part. I expect the service at Leica Store in Kobe is comparable. Enjoy your time in Japan.
