Is Berlin the official "foodie" Mecca?

Traveling through Europe and Asia I came to the conclusion that the best food is related to the latitude. Berlin is not on my preffered lattitude list 🙂 What are typical Berlin dishes and/or related crops?

I really like Turkish lemonade due to marvelous turkish local lemons, and yogurt, Italian mozarella, mascarpone, pasta, asparagi, etc.. local indian mango, fresh curry mixtures etc...

What is grown on fields "around" Berlin? Beside Kartoffeln? I'm really curious.

Again, I hope I don't sound harsh or offensive, I'm really curious.

Hi Cobram,

thanks for asking and don't worry, didn't sound harsh neither offensive.
Berlin is full of different cultures, so you have tons of options to go out for food & drinks. The overall food quality is pretty high and you'll find a lot of "modern kitchen" (fusion kitchen) restaurants and all sort of meals. For example, my favorite Fusion Sushi Restaurant is right in Kreuzberg, that food quality is above everything I have eaten in Munich (hometown) so far and is worth a visit alone.

For me, Berlin is perfect for different food experiences. If they taste like the original meals? I don't know! But the food is mostly delicious! 🙂

You mean "Würstel und bier" stuff? I usually skip Würstels because I almost always end up in heartburn and "hiccups" like symptoms. Mineral water is a proved remedy...

@mheine Thank you for explanation. My philosophy as a tourist is to eat and look at local specialities... Sadly I know that the globalisation is changing and/or destroying "local".  Thanks anyway for explanation.

I expect that the globalisation will be fully completed in next decades that's why I think the new (worldwide) tourism parola will be something like this:  "different - like everyone else" 😃 😂😅😒

No, I mean what i wrote and I write what I mean 😂

Google is your friend. Try ‘local food in Berlin’, ‘what to eat in berlin’, ‘eat like a local in Berlin’. Take a cooking class with a local Airbnb host, and there are oodles is tourists guides (traditional and alternative ones). And most importante of all, show us your pictures of your urban adventures shot with your Leica cameras and lenses.

I agree. My questions were out of topic. Sorry. 😅

Believe me or not, I never took photos of my dishes...

My generation used to only eat and not taking photos of food/dishes at restaurants and discretely (if current girlfriend was present) looking at girls at the other table 😅😋

Oh, Smartphone free years at bars and restaurants...😇

Maybe it’s just me but at first glimpse it looked to le like overdeveloped film. Then I saw M10! Cool look.
amd yeah, I think 35 is the best focal. There’s nothing that you can do with a 50 that you can’t do with a 35. But that’s not true the other way. IMO.

Thank you! Happy to hear because I want to get rid of that digital look in post!
I feel the same! As said, I was thinking about getting a 50mm (maybe f2) but then I thought the 35mm is more than enough and I can go a bit closer to get a similar look. This is where the sharpness of the Zeiss comes in handy, you can crop until 100% (if you nailed the focus) and it stays super sharp, even at f1.4. Nothing I would do on the Nokton for sure. 😁

What 'digital look'?

I guess you do not print >A4 if you are relying on cropping. And if you don't print, what's the point?

That kind of look you get with all digital cameras with 'good glass'? Super sharp, high contrast - something I like but not all the time. It depends on the scene.

There's a big difference between the Nokton and Zeiss (for example) in terms of resolution and sharpness. Don't need to print that to see the difference, not even pixel-peeping is needed.

Mheine, I intuitively get your point with your very short definition of ¨good glass¨ as being super sharp and high contrast (read; latest versions...). But thats possibly just me... 😉

That being said, and while I really like the look of the photo in your post 783 (agree with Steve about this ¨film like¨ or less contrasty look), I also always find it strange how much weight is put on lens performance based on screen appearance. With reference to other comments about judging total lens performance, prints are the only way to make «qualified» judgements in my opinion.

No big art... but one of those small ¨big moments¨ in life. A newspaper, a cup of coffee... and eventually a glass of rosè... ☺️
