CharlesL Posted December 18, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted December 18, 2018 And rather an odd setting: f/8 and 1/8000 to keep out light, but ISO 50. Â

A person might try setting the camera to F 5.6 @ 1/125 with an ISO of 100 to see what happens. hillavoider Posted December 18, 2018 Author Share #5  Posted December 18, 2018 the settings are irrelevant, this is what the camera is showing and trying to do with the lens cap on  southern hemisphere by the way
Brian C in Az Posted December 18, 2018 Share #6  Posted December 18, 2018 Just out of curiosity, did you try removing the battery for a minute then restarting the camera? These cameras are essentially mobile computers and sometimes require a reboot. There is a selection in the menu to do a manual reset to factory settings. I would try that after removing the battery and restarting.
CharlesL Posted December 18, 2018 Share #7 Â Posted December 18, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Have you clicked to review images? It is one thing if the screen shows stored images (or a message that no images on the card); another if that screen, too, is white. (Since there is a display of settings across the top and bottom, I'll guess that review works properly). hillavoider Posted December 18, 2018 Author Share #8  Posted December 18, 2018 I tried the battery but not the factory settings, the menus and pictures display, its just the live view ?  thanks for your suggestions, I was hoping someone else had had the same issue and by a miracle it was an easy fix, anyway not having the SL over xmas is going to be a pain
CharlesL Posted December 18, 2018 Share #9 Â Posted December 18, 2018 Not likely, but worth checking: is the lens firmly in the mount, and are the electrical contacts clean?

The slight green upon half-shutter implies the camera tries to display the exposure it is supposed to, but fails. If you remove the lens and do not see anything unusual when you look at the sensor, it appears to be in the electronics inside. I hope you are under warranty or that Leica does the right thing for you.
hillavoider Posted March 11, 2019 Author Share #15  Posted March 11, 2019 (edited) just thought i'd update this with.....just under 3 months later....that its back and working what a relief. Funny thing is Leica will not tell me what they did or what went wrong. Just that its been cleaned and inspected lol. It was covered under warranty but no extended warranty offered   Edited March 11, 2019 by hillavoider
thighslapper Posted March 11, 2019 Share #16  Posted March 11, 2019 Probably just a loose connector somewhere ...... or they just fully wiped and re-installed the firmware. A colleague had a similar situation ...... but with a blank screen .... after dropping his SL on rocks ....... nothing resolved the issue and when sent back to Leica they returned it to him fully functional stating that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Possibly accessing the (secret) service menu and attaching diagnostic equipment flushed out the gremlins ......
