charlesphoto99 Posted July 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) So I got to worrying about my free filters from Leica as I purchased my M8 in March. I emailed them yesterday to see where my 46mm and 55mm are. Well, it turns out they are now out of stock on the 46mm - and of course the reason they couldn't send both earlier was not being in stock with the 55s! Anyway, I guess they'll be fedexing me a 55 this week (I already have 55s by B&W) and have to wait for the 46, a filter I could really use. Oh Leica, Leica, Leica..... charlesphoto99 Posted July 17, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted July 17, 2007 Thanks Carsten. No just desperate for Leica to come through so I don't have to pump yet more money into my Leica system!
msole Posted July 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2007 Hi Charles, I received the wrong filter, a E46 UV/IR, and have not succeeded in having Leica exchange it. I'm leaving for a trip to Japan soon, and I am desperate to get a E55. If you are interested, I'm happy to trade with you. Magdalena

dannirr Posted July 18, 2007 Share #6 Posted July 18, 2007 I bought 2 bodies and registered both of them - I figured I should get 4 filters, right? Apparently not - I received only 2 of the 4 I ordered and no further correspondance answered. Danni
Shootist Posted July 18, 2007 Share #7 Posted July 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) B+H has some in stock, if you are desperate. This is what I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. Just how can B&H have Leica IR filters when people that bought M8's and odered that size filter don't have them. This is just toally ridiculous. Guest guy_mancuso Posted July 18, 2007 Share #8 Posted July 18, 2007 Ed it's simply because if you walk into B&H and buy a M8 and a lens and they don't have a IR filter and the promise is you will get them in 2 months most folks may just turn around and walk out. There just spliting the allotment to users and dealers. To us the user it seems unfair , and i won't argue with you because your right but the dealers that sell leica gear need the same gear to sell too. i know i know but everyone has to eat also. But dealers are ordering them just like everyone else also and there waiting too for shipments. It sucks but i do understand it.
marknorton Posted July 18, 2007 Share #9 Posted July 18, 2007 My own little fiasco as well. I have three M8s and I have received 2 filters for one of them; one filter for the second with one filter still waiting (the mythical 67mm); nothing for the third. Why nothing for the third camera, I ask? "Because it's not registered in your name...." I've emailed back the scanned passport registration, the registration acknowlegement, the filter order acknowledgement, the invoice for my 30% discounted lens I got with this registration, even a close-up picture of the offending hot shoe... "I'll check what happened" Since then, nothing.
grober Posted July 18, 2007 Share #10 Posted July 18, 2007 So I got to worrying about my free filters from Leica as I purchased my M8 in March. Oh Leica, Leica, Leica..... Oh please; give us a break. Bought my M8 the first week they were available in November (#1 on my dealer's M8 list for three months before that!). Registered for my "free" 60mm filter from Leica the first day their website was up in early December. Sent my M8 to Germany for six weeks over the holidays to get it's mandatory factory fix. Received my 60mm filter from Germany only two weeks ago. With respect, Charles, you haven't earned the right to whine yet! Suffer another three months and then we'll listen to your moaning. -g
marknorton Posted July 18, 2007 Share #11 Posted July 18, 2007 Yes, I had to laugh when I dug out the order acknowledgment. Expected Delivery Date: Feb 07. Still not here. Still, I suppose if you are going to miss a deadline, you may as well miss it by a mile.
Eoin Posted July 18, 2007 Share #12 Posted July 18, 2007 If anyone needs a 55mm, I have 1 in chrome, Original Leica never used.
ken_tanaka Posted July 18, 2007 Share #13 Posted July 18, 2007 Bought my M8 during the first week of February. When I had not yet received any filters by early June I wrote to Leica. Response: expect them in two weeks. At this writing I still have not received anything. Six months. Nada. Very classy.
jaapv Posted July 18, 2007 Share #14 Posted July 18, 2007 I have all of them in the bag for weeks now...39 twice, 49, and
Chuck Hatcher Posted July 18, 2007 Share #15 Posted July 18, 2007 My own little fiasco as well. I have three M8s and I have received 2 filters for one of them; one filter for the second with one filter still waiting (the mythical 67mm); nothing for the third... They probably figured the one you disassembled wasn't likely to need filters...

After six weeks received it back with a 24mm mount by mistake. Took another two weeks to sort that out. I realize you were being tongue in cheek - but I think I've at least partially earned the right to be a moaner!
marknorton Posted July 19, 2007 Share #17 Posted July 19, 2007 Pleased to say Leica jumped on my problem (camera registered in someone else's name) and I received two 55mm today. So, I've now had 2 60s and 3 55s, just waiting for a 67. So, progress... I think supply is beginning to catch up with demand. Interesting to look at the filter invoice numbers though. My first invoice was number 3, for a camera registered on 6 December when the registration web-site opened. The latest one is 6722, so that indicates how many filter orders they've had since then. I remember reading a lot of praise for some of their staff there. Samir
