From the article:- Due to some bad business practices from their suppliers, Tetenal is in a state of insolvency. We learn the film resurgence is real; however, it is still in a very fragile state. Their collapse could potentially decimate film photography industry. How the heck did this happen? Well, unfortunately suppliers were unable to deliver on their goods in a timely manner and their business customers pulled their orders. Like a bad date, Tetenal was dumped with a dinner tab they couldn’t pay. In the past, when these situations occurred, businesses would get emergency loans to pay back once their inventory sold. However, these are different times. Financial institutions are more reluctant to act in these situations and getting the funds are difficult. It’s very risky with very little guarantee the strategy is successful for both Tetenal and the banks. What is the result? Similar to a bankruptcy, Tetenal’s management is going through a restructuring process and looking for new ways to generate revenue. Traditionally, Tetenal’s marketing model was B2B (Business to Business), by converting raw materials into chemicals which were sold to large photo businesses. This is changing and Tetenal has an ace up their sleeve. They are looking into expanding their direct to consumer marketing model, thus opening up the opportunity in delivering new ideas and resurrecting some old ideas. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hello Pico, Not necessarily accurate. Losing 10% of a Fragile Market Share is sometimes different than losing 10% of a Stronger Market Share. On top of which: 10% is a Significant Percentage. Kodak HC-110, Rapid Fix, and Photo-Flo 200; Ilford Multigrade developer and WashAid) are tagged in the fine print as "Made in Germany." Quite probably by Tetenal. And that's the rub - if Tetenal goes under, all the other manufacturers that have shut their own chemical factories and outsourced chemistry production to Tetenal (to save money, and focus all the ecological and work-place hazards of chemistry in one factory) may end up with no products available either. It could well decimate (in the modern sense - destroy all but 10% of something) chemical photography. At least until Ilford and Kodak find new sources that can produce their proprietary formulas. One of there distributors in Australia says that they have pre-paid for an order have been waiting for also 12 months. After the bancrupty proceedings in 2018, the new "Teneal 1847 GmbH" was founded in 2019, with the help of Peter E. Rasenberger, a swiss investor. They produce chemicals for B&W, RA4, E6 for consumer- and professional use and also chemicals for the imaging industry. I bought 35mm long roll of 50D and 200T, and the raw material to make enough ECN-2 for the films. I can get the raw material for C41 too, but I want to stay with Vision 3, no more C41 color film.
