Stephen Spielberg's movie, "Schindler's List", tells the true story of Oskar Schindler who turned from entrepreneur to savior of Jewish people interned at Camp Plaszow, located 2 km. outside of Krakow.  Schindler risked his life and gave up all of his riches to save as many Jews as possible. By WWII's end, over 1200 Jewish lives had been saved.  Schindler is buried today in Israel.

Not much remains of the original structures of the Plaszow. This is the memorial to those who suffered and died there.

The Grey House.

The Camp was built on Jewish burial grounds. Before the War, the Grey House was an administrative building for the Jewish cemetery.  It was appropriated by the Nazis and used to house Nazi offices and the office of Commandant Amon Goth, who was played by Ray Fiennes in Schindler's List. It is with Goth, that Schindler bribed and negotiated with and supplied liquor to so as to save Jews.

The basement of the house was also used as a jail to house Jewish inmates who were later to be summarily executed.

Amon Goth was a beast. He was known to patrol the Camp grounds with his rifle and arbitrarily fire and kill prisoners.

Amon Goth's house was located close to Grey House.  It has been sold recently to a private party, who has remodeled it. Disappointingly, it was not preserved for historical purposes. (Bottom photo is the house before remodel).
