pico Posted November 14, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Coupling your Mac to an M10 VIA WIFI. This sequence works for M10 Leica Sync, app. but it works for all Mac OS M10 apps so far. (They are built from the same core libraries) First start the M10 menu with WLAN as ON Then go to the Mac System Prefferences and choose ‘Networks’ and scroll down until you something like “M10…and Choose it, I might take several seconds. Switch back and start the app you wish to use. Here I choose Leica Sync, app. double-click on the M10 image and you are in. In a few seconds you can press the Browse button and move into the opinions such as Download. I am looking into way to add a second network. Not good yet. roverover Posted November 20, 2018 Share #2 Posted November 20, 2018 I was beginning to experiment with Your suggestion. I am curious, are you able to download photos DIRECTLY to your Mac? does this work by downloading the M10 pictures to the Mac using the PHOTOS app? I was able to get my iPhone, my iMac and my M10 to all join the Leica M10 WLAN, and i have the Leica Sync App working, but i am not finding a way to choose the "iMac" as the download "destination," so i am curious what process You are using to get photos to go direct into the Mac? Thanks.
scott kirkpatrick Posted November 20, 2018 Share #3 Posted November 20, 2018 It's easy in any modern system to "see" the M10's hot spot, with SSID = camera serial number, and password given as well in the display and the QR code. I use my phones' network dialog to check for when the Leica signal appears. It usually tells me that the camera cannot connect to the Internet. I haven't tried with my Mac laptop, but would expect the same. The next step would be to use Finder to look into the camera's file system and see the directories on the SD card (the internal firmware is probably hidden). Has anyone done that? Has anyone done that? You can't open a directory to view the contents of the SD card just because you're connected to a specific BSSID. A "wifi service" never automatically publishes the local content running on the host as there would be far more than just one service involved and because it would be a horrific security issue. And the "internal firmware" is not hidden, its simply not on the SD card but in the M10's memory. Have a look at PTP or PTP/IP respectively. See this post: I assume that OP somehow managed to use the Leica FOTOS app on his macOS device. I find it hard to believe that there is a publicly available stand-alone tool which lets you see the images on the M10 explicitly developed for macOS/OSX.

With the Mac OS Leica Sync app, just press the Connect button, then the Browse button. Double-click on a thumbnail and the photo goes to wherever you have designated for downloads. On mine, it is the downloads folder which I keep in the Dock.
feelssadman Posted November 20, 2018 Share #6 Posted November 20, 2018 For anyone who was also confused about what app the OP was talking about, it was from this thread: Here is the link to it: https://transienteye.com/photographic-software/

ouweichao Posted December 31, 2018 Share #8 Posted December 31, 2018 It's really great solution!!!!! Finally I can connect the my M10 with my MAC. Thanks for sharing! However, the WIFI really consume battery power a bit. I guess it's another issue that I have to live with. Cheers!
