Leica MP 0.72 used prices

Hi

i am looking for used MP in good condition but the prices so high almost as high as new. Is it because of lack of stock? The best I found 3900$

is that the best I will get or to keep looking?

I think that there has been a lack of good used Leica bodies generally in recent years and this has tended to push up prices. The MP is also often between batches and ends up out of stock in the retail chain for months.

I seem to recall there was a rumour a while ago that the MP had been discontinued, which was unfounded.  The rumour may have caused a rush on what new stocks were held by dealers at the time and possibly sparked a bit of speculative used pricing aimed at panic buyers. Used MP's have never been cheap in relation to the rrp.

I sold my MP for £7000 to a guy telling him it's an M10-D. I've probably got 5 hrs before he gets around to trying to download his RAW files
