Hello dear CL owners!

 

In my CL I noticed that the display warms up very quickly, more than other cameras (I had in the past).

It's nothing dramatic, but in warm weather it's already noticeably warm.

 

Do you make the same experience with your camera?

Yes, but it was in the middle of the recent London heatwave.

Can't say that I noticed. For how long do you keep it switched on?

It happens sometimes to me when I stay too long on main menu and play with different functions. But not that much when I am shooting although I live in South Florida with a daily temperature of around 90F.

Yes, not just the display, but I can feel it on the front side of the camera too. Not sure when it happens and when it doesn't, but I noticed it anyway.

The CL is a small, light body with a lot of processing power in it. It's kind of inevitable that it will heat up more than a larger, heavier camera ... It has to shed the heat of all that operational power somehow.

 

I remember my Ricoh GXR used to heat up noticeably too. Same basic size camera, and for its day, a similar amount of processing power to shed heat.

Perhaps it calls for a camera design with better processor heat-sinking - one milled out a solid block of aluminum ;-)

I've noticed it heat up quite often, but it has never had an (observable) negative impact.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! First I thought, that my camera may  have a malfunction.

 

Now I am reassured, as apparently some other forents have made similar observations.

 

And my CL will warm my fingers in Winter!

Its not a fault, its a feature!

Same for me.  I have my CL set to power down as quickly as possible between shots.  This extends my battery life and cuts down on heating.
