And one more, I kept it as wide open as I could but I believe I had to step down to f/2.

All above photos were taken with a M10 Monochrom, with some post processing done but nothing major. If anyone is interested in seeing unedited DNGs or the comparison with the 8 Element Light Lens Lab lens let me know, and I can try to gather something up to send it to you. I can say without a doubt I’m already in love with this lens, and can’t wait to shoot some Tri-X with it in the coming few weeks with my MP.

Thank you! Got a trip planned for Detroit next month, the little Lux will definitely be glued to my MP the week I’m there!

Edit: @grahamcjust realized we spoke about this before on the film photos thread 😂 clearly I couldn’t hold myself off getting this lens very long, I had to go and get a German one for myself lol. Still wish it focused as close as yours though!

35 Lux v2 wide open at about MFD (0.85-0.9m). Have been absolutely falling in love with this lens over the last week.

Thanksgiving Weekend, 2022

MP | 35 Lux v2 | Tri-x Pushed to 1600

All shots were either at f/1.4 or f/2. It’s interesting to me how much pushing Tri-X to 1600 reduces the glow of the lens. It’s definitely still there and in some shots I didn’t share it’s much more noticeable, but shooting two stops underexposed has a very obvious impact on it. Also I’ve noticed a bit of distortion of straight lines when shooting near MFD, but I don’t mind it all and I think it adds to the look.

Overall I adore this lens. It makes such a great pairing with film. With the way I shoot, I quite frankly don’t see a need to ever purchase another 35mm lens, as this one is essentially perfect.

The Summilux 35 pre ASPH (v2) is a beautiful performer. I sold it 3x (early version, titanium and than the late German version). And EVERYTIME I regretted the sale.

Now I got a beautiful version (again), which somehow lies between the early and the late version when shooting wide open and in terms of overall contrast. My version is tack sharp from f2 on, like my ASPH (pre FLE), which is only corrected wide open for a cleaner , but still magical drawing. I keep them both and never sell the pre ASPH again !

The pre ASPH is wonderful on B&W film, but also color Film can be beautiful.

Another set, showing the difference from wide open and stopping down. Here there’s definitely some glow, but it is not to the amount I expected at all.

f/1.4

You won't see glow with low contrast lighting. You need bright light (from behind you, not backlit) with highlights on the focused subject.
