Great colors/rendering. You are really becoming the master of 35mm pre ASPH lux. I'm repeating myself: Your daughter will be so proud of you in next decades. What a nice "child to woman" album. And last but not least: those posted photos are also a proof how much time you spend with your kids. Remarkable. I have two daughters myself... your work is, from photographic and even more parent point of view, really inspiring. I'm wondering I there is a weight difference (I assume yes) , and whether it's significant ? I briefly had a black version however it has had to go back under PayPal 'not as described' unfortunately. Since then I've purchased a titan M6 TTL so am open to both colour lenses - but not if the titan is much heavier. Although I think the black is only 195g so I'm not sure even a heavier titan would actually be 'heavy'. I can't find any weight info online for the titan Cheers! G Titanium is brass underneath the titanium powder coat. A beautiful lens, and finally, a chance to own the pre-asph in brass. I have read, and experienced first hand, that the titanium are better optically. Maybe because of tolerances, or newer coatings. Lovely lens.

So I'll be able to weight it also for anyone interested - I was unable to find anything t all elsewhere online
grahamc Posted August 10, 2021 Share #414 Posted August 10, 2021 (edited) Hi guys I finally have a new (to me) 35 lux pre-asph since returning my first one due to a 'not-as-described' issue . The lens has the original hood. Now I need to buy a series 7 filter . Forgive my ignorance as I know little about drop-in filters .... but is 'Series VII' referring to the size and, if so, then are all Series VII the correct size for the 35 1.4 Pre-asph? On the worlds largest auction site I find several options but some refer to E55 compatibility. Others say only Series VII and some say Series VII for R. Some mention lenses they are compatible with (28mm, 21mm) but they don't mention 35mm. In short, will 'any' Series VII do ? Lastly, in terms of coatings - Is it recommended to get a genuine Leitz / leica ? Several 3rd party options boast about the amount of multi-coating - but I suspect in the case of this lens that may not be a good thing if you want the lens to perform authentically (I could be wrong). . Any recommendations gratefully received! Cheers Edited August 10, 2021 by grahamc

Cheers Just insert a Series VII or 49mm filter in a Leica 12504 or similar Chinese made hood like this one:https://www.ebay.com/itm/152375063917 BTW some 49mm filters must be inserted backwards to fit 12504 or similar hoods. Otherwise, all Series VII filters should fit. As for coatings, some colleagues here claim that filters with "nano" in their name are better but i have no experience with them as the only filters i use are Leica UV/IR's for my M8.2. FWIW.

Thanks - I've received the lens (and hood) just now and mystery solved, the filter drops in the front doesn't it . (I was originally thinking the filter dropped in between the hood and the lens and is secured in place by the hood . Although, I have a 49mm filter here and it doesn't seem to be dropping in quite properly either front way or reverse. Perhaps I need a more 'slimline' one as mentioned in other places. Also - once I get the right one (and presuming it drops in the front as I think it does) ... what stops it falling out lol. The one I am trying now kind of rattles around but stays in, then if you turn the camera directly facing the floor then of course it drops out. Sorry for all the questions, I feel like there is something in this whole process I am just not "getting" haha . I am getting prepared to be told I'm doing it completely wrong, although perhaps having the slightly better 49mm or VII that just drops on with solVes all of this - the 49 I have is not sitting flush. Cheers ! Edited August 10, 2021 by grahamc
grahamc Posted August 10, 2021 Share #418 Posted August 10, 2021 (edited) In the event anyone is interested in the weight of the Titan versus the black Aluminium, the titan I have is weighing in at 243 g w/hood and 228g without And as expected it is beautiful ! I hope that makes sense.
