Every now and then, 3-5 times a year, I take the Digilux 3 with me. Here I was at a playground near an asparagus farm, because of the color scheme, in wonderful weather. I'm always impressed by the CCD sensor and its Leica look. Please keep in mind that this camera is in its 22nd year. All shots with the Kit Zoom.

Nice work with your Digilux 3, the colors are so rich out of these wonderful cameras. I believe the D3 sensor is a hybrid CMOS sensor, but the files certainly have a CCD aspect to them. Hope to see more of your D3 photos again soon.

I don’t blame you. I’ve been shooting my M8 recently, and I have such an emotional connection to that camera. It’s been through decades and life changes since I’ve owned it. Congratulations. The M8’s color palette is so unique I am certain it’ll give a shoot a different feel.

There is a 14-150 PanaLeica that works really well on the EM1x and from what I can recall, they were going for a very reasonable price recently.

Cool story about your M8. I'm sure it's one you'll never part with. I had one and sold it 5 years ago but I've missed it for all these years. I'm going to keep this one, a fine copy that is sheer joy to use. It's a camera that gets into your blood!

I was in NYC with my M8 recently, haven't posted to the M8 thread yet, but I might. Practicing MF techniques....it's actually pretty quick to MF, especially at f/4-f/5.6, being the extra depth of field on this cropped sensor is actually a benefit, IMO.

I recently took out the Digilux 3 again a few nights ago and I've discovered, again, just how amazing this camera is and the "CCD-like" quality of the files. I'm loving these "vintage" Leicas I have.

I took a couple of hours to go through pictures from the Digilux 3 to contribute to this thread.

It’s a great camera, and I can’t wait to spend some time with the D3 again.

Lemalk, what an excellent series of photos with the D3!! You have a great eye for interesting images and that’s what matters most, but Leica images are different from any other brand, a surreal effect. I have been spending so much time with my M8 but I’m inspired now to take out the D3 again. It could be the most underrated Leica ever made, besides maybe the M5.
I did use my M8 on a recent wedding shoot, got a couple of fantastic shots but it is a lot of work in pressure situations and it absolutely needs a flash in lowlight, which I have of course. I rely on my Oly M1X’s of course which always nail the shots I need, but I must say that the D3 + the 25mm Summilux produced slightly better images than the M8 + Zeiss 28mm, IMO. The issue I had with the D3 on event shoots is that it really struggles to nail focus in low light and the viewfinder is so dim, manual focus is impossible. The M8’s view finder is really bright and I was able to manually focus on low light. I’m still learning it all, the Leica experience is never ever boring!!
